Robert Griffin III: Difficult Behavior Won't Impede His Rise to NFL Greatness
Robert Griffin III's attitude has raised some concerns of late, but that won't keep him from becoming on excellent NFL quarterback.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel cites two scouts who claim that Griffin's personality had rubbed them the wrong way. One said that Griffin had a "selfish streak," while the other "questioned the way Griffin deals with people."
Everything I had heard prior to that report lauded Griffin's personality, leadership ability and his overall intelligence. So hearing that he might be a problem attitude-wise came as a bit of a shock. But as we've seen with Cam Newton, serious questions about someone's personalty don't always translate into a lack of success.
Griffin has all the tools to become an outstanding NFL quarterback. He will be the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and will head to Washington to take the reins under center for the Redskins. With guys like running back Roy Helu, tight end Fred Davis and wide receiver Pierre Garcon surrounding him, I believe Griffin will be successful in the NFL.
It might be a rocky start, since the Baylor star ran a spread offense in college and the transition to a west coast scheme could present some problems. But, Griffin has improved greatly as a passer over the past three years and he has yet to peak in that regard.
When you consider the fact that Griffin also runs a low 4.4 40-yard dash, it's obvious that he has the makings of an elite playmaker, who can get things done through the air or on the ground.
Some may be worried by Griffin's behavior throughout the draft process, but I am not concerned. The kid has proven himself on and off the field for four years at Baylor and was a model citizen during his time in college.
Even if he does have some undesirable quirks in his personality, they won't stop him from becoming a great NFL quarterback.
