Note to Impact Wrestling: Please Do Not Drop the Ball Now

David LevinJun 5, 2018

If there is one thing that TNA must do tonight in the aftermath of Lockdown, it is move the storylines forward.

Forget the Bischoff angle (please), and move forward in the continuing creation of a brand that looks as good as it has in quite a while.

I remember around this time last year, TNA started hitting a stride of continual great work, then after the summer months, got amped up for Bound for Glory. TNA is in a position right now to make itself not only bigger, but better than it has been in years.

Keep the basis of the Roode/Storm feud going. The match was not as good as, say, Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy, but it was worthy of continuation, and that means fans will want to see this through the summer and maybe beyond. Maybe this becomes the new Flair/Sting feud that continued as both were each other’s nemesis for over a decade.

What is good about it is simple—two warriors about the same height, weight and experience, that are former friends. And the vignettes for them are better than anything I have seen in years.

If something ever evolves like a Bully Ray/Devon matchup (and TNA should take this one to heart), then the same kind of setup would be worthy.

Use Austin Aries as much as you can. Use his mouth and his in-ring style. Maybe have him in tag matches with A.J. Styles or Jeff Hardy (although a Hardy/Aries feud would be dynamite). Take advantage of the fact you can still build momentum upon momentum.

If I were creatively writing for Impact, I would realize that there are main event stars on both sides of the ring, and take them (say, five or six each), and build my company and new look or the programs around them.

I would try and use five or six tag team combinations, and take advantage of Samoa Joe and Magnus being as awesome as they could possibly be.

There is a culture of followers who want to see change, but maybe that is not the right thing now. Hardy and Angle work. Aries and Bully Ray work. A.J. Styles and Daniels still work. Storm and Roode is working.

There could be others. Where is The Pope? Who, now, challenges Crimson? What happens to Matt Morgan (WWE)? Where is Gunner when you need him (now a jobber)?

I don’t want this to sound like a rambling rant. I just want the same thing that has been successful to continue.

But I also want more: more Knockouts on the program, a real tag team championship other than ODB and Eric Young. Velvet Sky deserves another title shot, and hopefully she will not become the Arn Anderson of the division (although she has won a title).

Can we finally see Gail Kim and Madison Rayne beat the hell out of each other? And please give us more Winter and Angelina Love.

There are great things going on in Florida. All I am saying is, please keep it up, but give us more at the same time. We are the fans. We have the right to be greedy.
