Steelers 80th Anniversary Jersey: James Harrison Justified in Bashing Retro Unis

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

James Harrison and the word "justified" don't go hand-in-hand very often, but the hard-hitting linebacker has every right to bash the Pittsburgh Steelers' 80th anniversary jersey.

Best described as a bumblebee wrapped in caution tape, the jerseys will be worn by the Steelers once this season.

Harrison would rather call Doc Brown, throw the jerseys in the DeLorean, gun it to 88 mph and send them back in time to 1932 (the jerseys were first worn in 1934, James):

There's a reason these jerseys were from 1932..... it's 2012 now though, so send them back!!!lol fb.me/1FqMEi1dB

But for once, Harrison has a point.

We've seen teams honor their franchise with retro jerseys before, but oftentimes they are completely heinous.

The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers retro jerseys certainly jump to mind, and the Denver Broncos' brown and yellow uniforms aren't far behind.

Pittsburgh's color scheme at least stays the same, but that doesn't mean too much when you can be mistaken for a hazardous waste sign.

It is a great and honorable thing for teams to remember their roots, but that doesn't mean they have to actually wear the uniforms for a game.

Like Harrison said, this is 2012 and not all uniforms were made for the future.

So prepare yourselves, Steelers fans, for an array of black and yellow that will never be forgotten—unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.
