AC Milan Transfer Rumour: Rossoneri Target Ganso, Offer Robinho to Santos

Jack Alexandros RathbornJun 7, 2018

AC Milan continue to discuss their options for the upcoming summer transfer window as the current campaign winds down. The Rossoneri seem prepared to cast their net to South America as they attempt to acquire the globe's finest footballing talent.

The latest report emanating from Italy is that Milan could be set to finally move for their long-term target, Paulo Henrique Ganso. The Santos player has always expressed a desire to eventually play in Serie A, and in an interview with Sky, the 22-year-old stated, "my future is in Italy."

His club, Santos, would require a hefty transfer fee in order to relinquish the Seleção star, which has led to Milan conjuring up the idea of a swap. The Peixe would be open to the idea of the Rossoneri putting together a package of Robinho and a small fee, according to Tuttosport.

Santos recently rewarded Neymar with an enormous new contract, which severely restricts Santos' ability to maintain Ganso, with European clubs able to offer vastly superior wages.

The English media, including Sambafoot, have also ran with this story in recent days, suggesting that there could be a degree of substance to the rumours that originated from Italy. After all, it seems to be a move that would satisfy all parties, which therefore suggests that the chances of a bidding war proceeding are remote.

Santos would lose one homegrown hero, but gain another in Robinho, along with a small fee that would contribute to the 28-year-old's wages. Ganso would be handed an opportunity to further himself at a much-needed stage in his career in a league perceived to be well-suited to his ability. Lastly, Milan would further rejuvenate their squad with youth and much needed creativity.
