Biggest NFL Draft Busts of the Past 10 Years
When it comes to NFL draft busts, there are certain names like Ryan Leaf, Tony Mandarich and Ki-Jana Carter that always come up. If you are looking at the worst year for draft busts, there’s no doubt 1999 was “Not the Year of the QB.”
Tim Couch got the ball rolling as the No. 1 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns. Also available in the first round for the Browns was Donovan McNabb, Edgerrin James, Torry Holt and Champ Bailey. But the Browns are indeed the Browns. Will Cleveland blow it with their 4th overall pick in 2012? For Cleveland’s sake, hopefully they won’t be partying like it’s 1999.
But Cleveland was not alone in 1999. The Bungles, err, Bengals selected Akili Smith with the 3rd overall pick. Da Bears took the forgettable Cade McNown with the 12th overall pick.
We asked our Bleacher Report staff to come up with their top five NFL draft busts in the last 10 years. Yes, we limited the list to only five. We can tell you that our guys did not get to Joey Harrington, DeWayne Robertson, Mike Williams or Brady Quinn. So who did they pick? Find out in the video above.
