Nascars 2009 Preview
Yet with only a few more weeks til speed weeks starts the clear favor going into this years season has to yet be Jimmy Johnson. After last season tying the record with three straight championship's he has shown he is the real deal. Daytona can start your year off on the right foot or leave you hoping for something incredible just ask Ryan
Newman after winning the 50th running last year, his season could never really catch any traction not making the chase or winning any more races. He really didn't even look like his self in qualifying. Kyle Busch after being the hottest driver in the hot summer months just like the season he cooled off and in a big way letting his outstanding season and his championship fall to the hands off Mr. Johnson. Kyle will be just as tough this year with the same team around him and a year of chemistry to boot he could be just the man to dethrone Jimmy. Carl Edwards would have to be the next leading man in the race for the chase, he showed he is not afraid to go after it especially after last seasons meeting at Bristol with Mr. Busch he will yet again show his dominance on the concrete tracks and maybe step up his restricter plate tracks and it could be his year. I'll have fans cheering with my next selection with Dale Jr. having his first season in the Hendrick powered cars he will be more comfortable in his surroundings and hopefully have all the flows worked out with his crew chief Tony Eury Jr. He showed very well he still has what it takes to run with the top stars but just couldn't make the adjustments to the car when it counted the most, the communication issues have to be worked out with his crew chief if he wants to start making his on legacy and not living in the eyes of all his fans daddy's shadow. With there being 12 spots the field in the chase i think will look similar to last years with the exception of Mark Martin in his new Hendrick ride taking the place of Clint Bowyer. Mark has something to proof and this is gonna be his best chance of that in the Hendrick powered chevy's. If Gillette ,Penske, and the rest of the teams are going to make it the will need huge efforts in a lot of luck. Those teams combined for only two win last year and it doesn't look to get any easier. The Dodges could get help though with the new noses for the COT to help there down force on the mile and a half tracks, but only time will tell.
