US Soccer Uniforms: Nike's New Creations Fall Flat
Nike unveiled its new jerseys for the United States men's and women's national soccer teams on Monday—and they look hideous.
The players will look like they are wearing "Where's Waldo?" shirts. They will also look like candy canes.
These jerseys are also a bit similar to Spanish Atletico Madrid's jerseys, which often feature red stripes, although theirs are normally vertical.

The striped design is all right, but the jersey has way too much red in it. I know Team USA jerseys of the past have included a lot of blue, but that doesn't mean the new jerseys should feature very little of that color. Some more blue would have been nice, and would have added some more balance to the color scheme.
Another criticism I have is of the sash, which is really poorly done. You can barely see it, and if that's how Nike wanted it to be designed, then they should have scrapped the idea of one altogether. It adds nothing to the jersey.
Nike and US Soccer have made some drastic changes to the country's jerseys and they aren't for the best.
Hopefully these jerseys will be replaced soon because I can't imagine anyone wanting to wear them. However, with Team USA failing to qualify for the Olympics, there won't be too many competitions in which the team can wear them this year.
