The Rock's Reality Show, 'The Hero,' Will Greatly Benefit Vince McMahon and WWE

Brian MaziqueJun 7, 2018

Many people stand to benefit from The Rock's new reality show, The Hero.

No matter how many times we hear The Rock referred to by his real name, Dwayne Johnson, all most of us hear is The Rock. For that reason, everything he touches still screams WWE. Because of that, everything he touches furthers the popularity of Vince McMahon and the company that launched the mega-star into orbit.

It's not a bad thing for The Rock—after all, he's still raking in the dough. For as dynamic of a star as he is, no one would know him, were it not for his ascension through the WWE ranks.

The Rock's newest venture is designed to find a true "hero."

According to a article published by the Huffington Post:

"

Each episode eliminates contestants by testing their morals, courage and physical strength with only one emerging as "the hero."

“The Hero will bridge the digital and physical world on the small screen in an unmatched fashion, enabling fans to determine the fate of the show's contestants entirely through social media and on-screen decision making,” Johnson said in a statement.

"

It remains to be seen what that will mean totally and how that will manifest itself on fans' television screens and monitors, but it is intriguing.

The Rock's relationship with the WWE allows the brand to continue to prosper from his personal success. With eight projects in motion over the next five years, the WWE is sure to enjoy a ton of indirect plugs during that time.

That isn't even counting his wrestling appearances, as The Great One has all but promised to make another run at the WWE championship.

This has been a fruitful marriage for both parties.

As for the show, those that participate could be in for careers as well.

It would also seem logical that the winners and runner-ups for The Hero could be in line for some future WWE roster consideration.

Think about this, the contestants will obviously be of some athletic stature, and the hero element is like a precursor to a wrestling gimmick or identity.

All the while Vince McMahon is prospering on the popularity of The Rock, he could also find the next great face for the company.

When it's all said and done, The Rock will probably be the biggest goldmine Vince McMahon and the WWE were ever associated with.

Maybe Dwayne Johnson is really Vince McMahon's hero.
