NFL Draft Rumors: Latest Buzz Surrounding No. 4 Pick

Servontay MooreApr 17, 2012

What will the Cleveland Browns do with the No. 4 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft? That is the question that has yet to be answered.

The only thing we do know is that the No. 4 pick can be used for the Browns' multiple needs on offense. With Mike Holmgren running the show in the draft room, you can expect some big moves from the Browns to help them win.

The one thing that is for sure is that the Browns have to improve their offense with every opportunity. After an injury-ridden season by Peyton Hillis last year, who eventually signed with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason, the running back position needs to be filled.

Trent Richardson

The Browns could make a splash at running back by drafting Trent Richardson in the No. 4 spot. With Hillis not on the team, the next running back in line for the Browns would be Montario Hardesty.

Hardesty has not provided the Browns with the best production in his time in Cleveland. Going with Richardson would give them the spark in the backfield that Hillis gave them two years ago.

Richardson is not your normal running back either. He can do anything you need him to do. Richardson has the speed to get to the outside, the power to go through the middle and the hands to catch the ball in the flats. A running back with so much upside is going to be hard to pass up by a franchise who is looking for a spark.

Justin Blackmon

This year's best receiver in the draft, Justin Blackmon could find himself in a Browns jersey when the NFL Draft arrives. With no real weapons for Colt McCoy to throw to in the Browns offense, Blackmon would fit right in. NFL scouts and analysts are not the only ones sold on Blackmon as the No. 4 pick, either.

According to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, Browns general manager Tom Heckert loves Blackmon as a player. Blackmon has the potential to change a franchise with his pure talent and skill.

Ryan Tannehill

Colt McCoy's job is definitely under fire as the draft day approaches. With Ryan Tannehill's draft stock rising, he is looking like the perfect player to give McCoy a run for his money.

Tannehill can come in and learn the West Coast offense, and he can be installed in the offense as soon as McCoy makes a mistake. This might not be the best choice for the Browns, but this can work in their favor for teams looking for a quarterback. The trade value for Tannehill could be the best thing to happen to the Browns.

Trades

Depending on what the Vikings do with the No. 3 pick will determine what the Browns really do with the No. 4 pick. If the Vikings don't chose Matt Kalil with the third overall pick, the Browns' phones will be ringing off the hook come draft day. Its very rare that you find a lineman of Kalil's caliber ready to make a difference on any NFL team.

But, if the the Vikings do go with Kalil, the Browns can still find themselves in trade talks with other teams. Players like Justin Blackmon and Morris Claiborne are hot commodities for NFL teams. It all depends who wants them the most.

The No. 4 pick in the draft is one of the most important picks this year, and the Browns have so much leverage with it. For now, we have no clue what the Browns will do with it, but know the price for the No. 4 pick is high. Now we wait for April 26th to find out what happens at No. 4.
