World Football's Biggest Fails of the Week: Anelka, Muntari, Holloway, Kulusic

Michael CummingsJun 7, 2018

In this edition of B/R's best FAILs of the week, Sulley Muntari is shown up by a punk kid, a lower-league manager is reprimanded by police for using bad language, and Nicolas Anelka shows why he was named player/manager of his new Chinese team.

Also, we have photo documentation of a really, really bad new uniform for the United States, and one of the best own goals you'll ever see.

Are you ready for the FAIL? Here it comes.

Sulley Muntari Who?

1 of 5

After AC Milan's victory over Chievo Verona last week in Serie A, Milan's Sulley Muntari stripped off his jersey and handed it to a lucky young fan.

Aww.

Er, wait. The fan didn't want the jersey, and he quickly tried to return it.

Sulley Muntari? Pah. That kid requires at least a Mark Van Bommel.

Potty Mouth

It's hard to know which part of this story is funnier.

Is it…

(A) The fact that the police actually told Blackpool manager Ian Holloway to watch his language during an Easter Monday game?

Or…

(B) The fact that Holloway admitted to missing the other team's goal because he was in the bathroom?

I've got to go with B.

Anelka Demonstrates a Dive

3 of 5

Nicolas Anelka is making quite the name for himself in the Far East.

The not-at-all-sulky French forward joined Shanghai Shenhua from Chelsea in January, and quickly rose to the position of player/manager.

So, what better way to show your new subordinates how to conduct oneself as a footballer than to be booked for diving?

Am I right or what?

Bonus points for trying to get out of the booking by joking with the referee.

Seriously, Where IS Waldo?

The United States men's and women's national teams received a makeover on Monday.

There's really not much to say that hasn't already been written.

Awful. Just awful.

Glorious Own Goal

5 of 5

Finally, we bring you the sad tale of Gençlerbirligi defender Ante Kulusic, who scored a goal during a recent Turkish Super Lig game against Gaziantepspor.

Rarely will you see a player score from farther out.

Problem was, Kulusic scored in his own net.

D'oh!
