Mayweather vs. Cotto: Why You Can't Miss Money Mayweather's Next Bout

Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto is just as good of a fight as Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

Skeptics might say there's no way for me to know that since we haven't seen Mayweather fight Pacquiao yet. While that may be true, Cotto is no pushover. He has a record of 37-2 and started his career by winning 32 matches in a row.

Throw in the fact that Mayweather has only fought in the Light Middleweight class only one time and you have yourself a match. His one appearance in that class was his fight against Oscar De La Hoya. Money Mayweather won that fight and took away his belt.

It will be interesting to see if he can get the same result facing Cotto.

Mayweather is known for his quickness and has never been known as too much of a power hitter. The higher weight class will be a struggle for Mayweather even if he doesn't show it.

Cotto has great power and speed and has the ability to get Mayweather off his game. Cotto is coming off one of his better performances as a professional after defeating Antonio Margarito to get his revenge after a disappointing loss.

That fight proved Cotto is one of the best boxers in the world.

Pacquiao and Mayweather get all the attention and probably are the best two boxers in the world, but Cotto is right there with them.

This fight against Mayweather is crucial for Cotto and for boxing.

On the outside, if Cotto wins, it will be damaging to boxing because it will kill what could have been (if there ever will be) a Mayweather fight against Pacquiao.

However, if Cotto does win, the boxing world will have a new face they can promote. A new face that will get even bigger draws than he already does. This fight gives boxing a chance to show that it's not just two people who win all the matches.

On the other side, if Mayweather wins, it will just call more attention to a fight against Pacquiao. No doubt this what not only boxing fans, but casual sports fans in general want to see.

Either way, this will be a big night for boxing and will be a fight you can't miss.
