Boston Marathon 2012 Results: Celebrities Who Must Run Next Year's Race

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

With this year's Boston Marathon over, we can all marvel in the fact that Wesley Korir and Sharon Cherop won the men's and women's race, respectively. But, it also gives us a chance to look forward to next year's run, in particular, the celebrities who should be involved in the race.

This year was a little light on star power, thanks in large part to the abnormally hot weather conditions, but there were some names that brought a lot of good mainstream attention to the already-big event.

So with that in mind, here are some of the celebrities that we would like to see take part in next year's Marathon.

Ben Affleck

There are few celebrities more synonymous with Boston, right now, than Ben Affleck. He has directed two movies—Gone Baby Gone and The Town—that are set in or around the Boston-area. The latter has a great heist scene that takes place in the mecca of Boston: Fenway Park.

Given that Affleck has been doing a lot of charity work lately, he could use the Marathon as a way to raise more money for whatever organization he wants.

It would be difficult to keep a clear path for him because he is so famous, but if he can figure out a way to do it, there is no one who will represent Boston better.

John Krasinski

One of the stars of The Office, Krasinski has become a big deal in Boston thanks to his New Era commercials with Alec Baldwin.

Krasinski is sporting a Red Sox hat and defended the franchise against the Yankees fan and 30 Rock star in a witty and clever back and forth that reminds the world we will never be as cool as either one.

Given that Krasinski still doesn't have a new contract to return to The Office next year, he could have some free time on his hands.

Alicia Sacramone

We have to get a real athlete in here to, and since we wanted to make sure to include a female, Sacramone gets the call. As an Olympic gymnast, she will be in peak physical condition to handle herself in a 26-mile race.

Being a Boston native, Sacramone has the Boston connection. She was born and grew up there. She is an outspoken person and a great leader who clearly wants to set an example for everyone around her.
