2012 NFL Draft Predictions: Guarantees for Best Class in Years

Gabe ZaldivarApr 16, 2012

You want bold predictions? Well, look elsewhere, because we have the sensible NFL draft picks that will actually take place in a little over a week from now.

You can take our bold assertions that the Cleveland Browns will completely miss the point of their No. 4 pick and trade it away or waste it on a second-round quarterback.

Any thoughts that Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III don't go No. 1 and No. 2 respectively should be squashed right now.

Here are a collection of picks that you can feel safe in knowing they will take place.

1. Picks No. 1 and No. 2

We will spend little time on this because we have known for weeks that No. 1 and No. 2 will go to Luck and RG3, and I will bet my Tebow Snuggie that it happens.

2. Pick No. 6: St. Louis Rams take Justin Blackmon

I am very close to guaranteeing the Browns take Trent Richardson, but I know how tantalizing these second-round quarterbacks can look to desperate teams. Ryan Tannehill may be too much for them to resist.

If they don't take Richardson, which they should, he will not drop that far for the Rams to take him, the only other viable option other than Blackmon.

The Rams still need a star receiver to form a dynamic duo that would rival anything Adam West and Burt Ward ever did.

3. No. 8 Pick: Miami Dolphins take Ryan Tannehill

If the Browns escape temptation, the Dolphins will jump head-first into a pool without water. Welcome to the second coming of Christian Ponder as Ryan Tannehill gets taken roughly hours before he should.

4. No. 15 Pick: Philadelphia Eagles take Mark Barron

Here is the last selection I am sure of, and it makes sense when you consider who should come off the board before this time.

I could see anyone from Riley Reiff to Dontari Poe being taken by the Eagles, but they should be gone by this point, giving Philly the chance to fill an obvious need.

The fact that Mark Barron is immensely gifted makes this a no-brainer, and everything else is a crap shoot.
