NBE: Big East Dance Card (1/23/09)
"There is a clear-cut bottom five โ St. Johnโs,ย Rutgers,ย DePaul,ย South Florida,ย Seton Hall โ that will bring the league down when it comes to the โWhich is better, the ACC or Big East?โ argument. Providence and Cincinnati are the next tier up; both teams will try to fight for a tenth bid out of the conference (it probably wonโt happen).
Providence: The Friars are starting to fall back (slightly) to the pack in the Big East, which, to be honest, is where they belong. They have a 5-2 record in the conference, which has been padded by bottom-feeders, but an overall resume that does not justify inclusion into the NCAA Tournament. Three of the next five games are on the road, and the two home games are against Syracuse and Villanova. Time for PC to show what it is made of.
