Randy Orton: Win The Royal Rumble Or Get FIRED!

Joe Burgett Jan 23, 2009

Why Randy Orton Must Win the Royal Rumble or Get Fired from the WWE

For a while now, Randy Orton had pushed management. We saw it all come to a head this past week on RAW with his argument with Stephanie McMahon. Coming out after Chris Jericho begged for his job back, Orton demanded an apology from Stephanie after she slapped him across the face. You'd have to think he deserved it though after the comments he made.

Vince McMahon told his daughter to leave the ring, and she did. But he kept Orton in the ring and told him to apologize. It was a turn of events like no other for Orton. However, Orton refused to apologize.

Then McMahon told Orton that if he didn't apologize, McMahon would terminate him on the spot. Orton still did not apologize, so Vince felt that he had no other choice but to fire him. Once Vince was about to let loose with his patented catch phrase, Orton slapped him and kicked him to the ground.

Once Vince hit the mat and began to stir, Orton punted him in the head as if something had come over him. He seemed to realize the gravity of his actions as he placed his hand over his mouth. He seemed to have no idea what had happened, as if he was just seeing it for the first time, and had just then realized what he had done.

Now, since Orton was not fired on the spot, he will still be entered in the Rumble match. Vince never did manage to get out the words: "Your fired!"

I see that being a huge reason why Orton has to be the last man standing. I don't think he will myself, but when you think about everything that happened to Orton, he has to win to keep his job.

If he wins the Rumble match, then the WWE couldn't fire him. Could they? Well, in real life it wouldn't matter, but in the world of the WWE, if Orton does win the Rumble, then he keeps his job because of the guaranteed Wrestlemania title shot that goes with winning the Rumble.

Now, I don't condone what Orton did; I think what he did was horrible. But I don't see it effecting him if he wins the Rumble match. For Orton, a win means more than it does any other Superstar in the match.

If they lose, it's just another match. If Orton loses, it is his career. Despite his accomplishments in the past, the legacy of Randy Orton will live or die at the Royal Rumble. Mark my words.
