Denver Broncos Offseason Workouts Begin: Player Visits, Signings, Releases, News
Today marks the first day of the two-week optional conditioning program for the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning’s first day in the building working out with the team.
Not only are initial workouts commencing but player signings, releases, and visits of potential draftees are in full swing.
Check out what’s going on today at Dove Valley.
Brandon Stokley Signed
1 of 4Former Bronco (and Colt) Brandon Stokley has been re-united with Peyton Manning after the Broncos offered him a one-year league minimum for a veteran according to BroncoTalk.
The deal was dependent on the 36-year-old Stokley passing a physical.
Stokley joins a stable of wide receivers that the Broncos have under contract for 2012 including incumbent starters Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, journeymen Matthew Willis, Andre Caldwell, Mark Dell, Jason Hill, D’Andre Goodwin, Tyler Grisham, Greg Orton and the final selection of 2010 NFL Draft, Tim Toone.
Robert Turbin, RB: Potential 3rd or 4th Round Draft Pick
2 of 4As previously reported, the Denver Broncos will host Utah State starting RB Robert Turbin today.
He has the size and qualities that head coach John Fox covet in a running back at 5’10” and 222 pounds. He had a monster season for Utah State in the WAC with 1,517 yards and 19 touchdowns. Turbin also made 17 catches for 171 yards with four scores in 2011.
Many have speculated that Turbin will likely go in the 3rd or 4th rounds, and he could be a steal for the Denver Broncos especially under Fox’s tutelage.
Ryan McBean Reportedly Released
3 of 4Ryan McBean, the only Broncos player to record a sack from the interior defensive line in 2011, will be released by the Denver Broncos today according to a team source.
The Broncos offered McBean a one-year tender, which McBean refused to sign.
Part of the Broncos' concern was a six-game suspension McBean faced for failing a routine performance enhancing drugs screen at the end of last season.
The release comes days after the Broncos signed veteran DT Justin Bannan, who played for the Broncos in 2010.
Future Player Visits
4 of 4Other players that the Broncos plan to bring in include QBs Kirk Cousins (Michigan) and Ryan Lindley (San Diego State), DTs Jerel Worthy (Michigan State) and Kendall Reyes (Connecticut), OT Levy Adcock (Oklahoma State) and OG Austin Wuebbels (Missouri).
Other players and free agents are expected to be brought in this week as the Broncos prepare for the 2012 NFL Draft on April 26-28, 2012.
