25 Totally Random Pictures of Athletes with Celebrities
Remember a few months ago when actor Rob Lowe tweeted about inside information regarding the retirement of Colts quarterback Peyton Manning?
Lowe tweeted to ESPN's Adam Schefter he heard from "his people" Manning was retiring, leaving everyone in the world to wonder who the heck he was talking about.
Well within hours the world learned that Lowe's "people" included Jim Irsay, the fame-whoring owner of the Colts, leaving everyone in the world to wonder why the heck Rob Lowe is friends with Jim Irsay. Legend has it that Lowe was the very first person Irsay followed on Twitter.
That's just one of countless WTF pairings between sports types and celebrities. Actually, these odd couples are photographed together all the time, so I have no idea why each new photo (or old photo that's new to me) manages to amuse me—but they do!
Hopefully they'll amuse you too. Here are 25 ridiculously random pictures of athletes and celebrities.
25. Tom Brady & Adriana Lima
1 of 25So apparently: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady used to spend time with another Victoria's Secret angel, Adriana Lima. Gisele probably doesn't have anything to worry about though—this photo was taken back in 2003.
And what's going on here: Brady and Lima attended the launch party for a book called "Backstage Sexy," together at the Spice Market in New York City. Well, at least it looks like they were together.
24. Steve Smith & Will Smith
2 of 25So apparently: Panthers wide receiver and movie megastar Will Smith are boys. Or maybe Will is a Carolina Panthers fan? But my best guess is he's just really excited because the two of them share the same last name—which explains the jersey.
And what's going on here: The Smiths are at the "Seven Pounds" movie premiere in Charlotte, N.C. The event doubled as a canned food drive for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
23. Vince Vaughn & Wayne Gretzky
3 of 25So apparently: Actor Vince Vaughn is a big hockey fan—but, being a big hockey fan myself, I actually already knew that. What I didn't know is that he and NHL legend Wayne Gretzky are BFF's.
And what's going on here: Vaughn is cracking The Great One up (hopefully by reenacting some of the classic scenes from "Old School") at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
22. Danica Patrick & Justin Bieber
4 of 25So apparently: NASCAR driver Danica Patrick and tween singing sensation Justin Bieber are acquaintances—but I'm wondering how they ended up wearing each other's outfits.
And what's going on here: The overexposed, marginally talented duo presented an award together at the 2011 ESPY Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif.
21. Channing Tatum & Drew Brees
5 of 25So apparently: Hunky actor Channing Tatum and good-guy quarterback Drew Brees may be in the beginning stages of a budding bromance. Neither couldn't look any more pleased to be hanging with the other.
And what's going on here: Tatum and Brees were recently both guests on an episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and took some time to get bromantic backstage.
20. Andy Roddick & Will Ferrell
6 of 25So apparently: There is no sport that comedian Will Ferrell doesn't enjoy. He may like to kick it on the court with Andy Roddick, but I think tennis is the only sport he has yet to make a movie about.
And what's going on here: Ferrell and Roddick are both at the 2009 Arthur Ashe Kids Day event—organizers of the event should feel lucky that Ferrell didn't threaten to pee on the court this time.
19. Erin Andrews & Nancy Grace
7 of 25(We all know that Erin Andrews isn't an athlete, but I'm making an exception.)
So apparently: ESPN anchor, and national treasure, Erin Andrews is a big fan of CNN host, and plague on humanity, Nancy Grace.
And what's going on here: The two recently attended an event on the Disney cruise line's newest ship.
18. John Travolta & Steve Williams
8 of 25So apparently: Scientology power allows actor John Travolta to stare right into the soul of Steve Williams, the mouthy, backstabbing former caddie of one Tiger Woods.
And what's going on here: I'm guessing Travolta is on "Team Tiger," judging by the stink eye he's shooting Williams at the 2011 Presidents Cup in Australia.
17. Floyd Mayweather & 50 Cent
9 of 25So apparently: Boxer Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. and rapper 50 Cent are still BFFs who still enjoy the finer things in life—like riding in private jets, posing with giant stacks of money and pretend talking to each other on giant stacks of money they are pretending are cell phones.
And what's going on here: Same old, same old. You know, macho straight guy stuff. Just a couple of buff dudes hanging out alone in a Las Vegas hotel room with piles of cash and occasionally posting catty insults about Jay-Z and Beyonce's newborn baby on Twitter. Seriously.
16. Jimmy Fallon & John McEnroe
10 of 25So apparently: Johnny McEnroe, the original badass of tennis, has still got the magic. Not that I ever doubted that for a second.
And what's going on here: Johnny McEnroe is hanging with NBC late night host Jimmy Fallon. Fallon said of McEnroe "He is the coolest." I concur.
15. David Beckham & Tom Cruise
11 of 25So apparently: Aging soccer star David Beckham and aging movie star Tom Cruise are neighbors, friends and, most importantly, bros. Recently, Becks helped Tom lose weight, Tom helped Becks with public speaking and now the duo might team up for an action flick.
And what's going on here: Actually, I'm not really sure what's going on here. If I had to venture a guess though, I'd say that they are getting sloshed together and then sharing uncomfortably strange stories about their marital lives.
14. Mike Ditka & Jeremy Piven
12 of 25So apparently: NFL analyst Mike Ditka and skeevy actor Jeremy Piven once met each other—that's really all I can definitively determine with this photo.

13. Michael Phelps & Ryan Seacrest
13 of 25So apparently: Ryan Seacrest is straight up never going away, and it's about time we all accept that. He's apparently sold his soul to the Devil, and there's nothing we can do about that.
And what's going on here: Seacrest recently had Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps on his radio show, as opposed to his various TV shows, for an interview, and then, they both bragged about it on Twitter.
12. Lance Armstron & Lyle Lovett
14 of 25So apparently: Retired cyclist Lance Armstrong and singer Lyle Lovett, the ex-husband of actress Julia Roberts, are buddies.
And what's going on here: They're buddies who sing together on occasion and then share the photos on Twitter. It seems as if riding a bike isn't Armstrong's only talent.
11. Bill Clinton, Cameron Diaz & Alex Rodriguez
15 of 25So apparently: Former President Bill Clinton is still bird-doggin' the chicas every chance he gets. And it obviously doesn't matter what kind of vapid, inane conversation he has to sit through in order to do it.
And what's going on here: President Clinton joined actress Cameron Diaz and Yankees star Alex Rodriguez in Miami for a lovely dinner and some (likely, less than) scintillating conversation in January 2011.
10. Gary Busey & Clay Matthews
16 of 25So apparently: Packers linebacker Clay Matthews recognizes the inherent comedy that exists in the stone-faced craziness of actor Gary Busey. Dude is accidentally the funniest man in any room.

9. Chuy & Kareem Abdul Jabbar
17 of 25So apparently: NBA living legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is on Twitter and routinely posts photos that are seriously out of this world fantastic. Extreme differences in height are comedy gold! I've been giggling at this photo all afternoon.
And what's going on here: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar stopped by Chelsea Lately and posted for this picture with the comedian's stout sidekick, Chuy.
8. Tim Tebow & Rob Lowe
18 of 25So apparently: The very handsome and talented actor Rob Lowe is going through some kind of mid-life crisis and regrets not pursuing that football scholarship in the 80's. At least, it seems that way having perused his Twitter page.
And what's going on here: Lowe is trying to contain his glee about meeting one Timmy Tebow. Come to think of it, Timmy looks pretty pleased himself—I'm sensing and unspoken connection between these two.
7. Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi & Carrot Top
19 of 25So apparently: There is a little-known law on the books in Las Vegas, which basically states that if you have a party anywhere within the Vegas city limits, prop-comic-freakshow Carrot Top is allowed to attend. Weddings, bachelorette parties and conventions—beware.
And what's going on here: Carrot Top is taking advantage of the power he wields in Vegas and stopped by The Andre Agass Grand Slam for Children Gala in November 2011. He even got a picture with the man himself, Andre Agassi, and his wife Steffi Graf.
6. Dennis Rodman & Joan Rivers
20 of 25So apparently: Since starring together in The Celebrity Apprentice, the NBA's most infamous bad boy Dennis Rodman and aged comedian/plastic surgery enthusiast Joan Rivers are homies.
And what's going on here: Rodman and Rivers are hitting up The Celebrity Apprentice season finale at New York City's American Museum of Natural History (how appropriate) in 2009.
5. David Hasselhoff & Joe Torre
21 of 25So apparently: David Hasselhoff is a Dodgers fan—so you can finally stop hassling The Hoff.
And what's going on here: The Hoff is kicking it with (then) Dodgers manager Joe Torre before a game in October 2010.
4. Charles Barkley & Nirvana
22 of 25So apparently: Right before hoot was taken, (then) NBA superstar Charles Barkley threatened to murder all three members of Nirvana. That's the only explanation for what looks like sheer panic on their faces.
And what's going on here: Barkley actually was hosting Saturday Night Live way back in 1993, and Nirvana was the musical guest. Here's the actual story behind this photo.
3. Gary Coleman & Wayne Gretzky
23 of 25So apparently: Different Strokes actor (the late) Gary Coleman once met (then) Oilers star Wayne Gretzky—sometime waaaaay back in the 1980s.
And what's going on here: And an amazing photo was taken.
2. Ben Stein & Shaquille O'Neal
24 of 25So apparently: Ben Stein is still finding acting work in between speeches touting the glory and greatness of the late President Richard Nixon—you'd think that would be a job unto itself.
And what's going on here: In 2009, Stein and (then) NBA star Shaquille O'Neal starred in a series of commercials for Comcast. The outtakes were hilarious, and this is them behind the scenes.
1. Muhammad Ali & Miley Cyrus
25 of 25So apparently: Two famous people who had absolutely no idea who the other one was recently posed for a picture together.
And what's going on here: Famous-for-something Miley Cyrus recently attended boxing legend Muhammad Ali's Fight Night in Phoenix, Ariz.
