Blake Griffin: Predicting Who the L.A. Clippers Star Will Anger Next
Two things are guaranteed when Blake Griffin hits the floor: Someone is getting dunked on, and someone is going to be furious.
As the Los Angeles Clippers finish out their final six games, fans of the NBA should expect nothing short of the same old Blake Griffin.
His ferocious jams have caused league-wide excitement, likely a reason the NBA has become so harsh on flagrant fouls.
As Griffin attacks the lane with fearless power, be sure to watch for two very important things: Who is he going to piss off, and how are they going to react?
Here are the answers.
Chris Andersen, Denver Nuggets
1 of 5Chris Andersen is a big-time shot-blocker, a physical defender and one hell of a fiery competitor. Sounds to me like the quintessential "take on Blake Griffin" type of player.
While it's unclear whether or not Birdman can stop Griffin from performing one of his signature flushes, it's hard to imagine him backing down from the challenge.
Andersen averages 1.4 blocks per game in just 15.2 minutes of playing time, making his return from the doghouse quite likely with Griffin in town.
Prediction: Blake Griffin over Chris Andersen
Chris Kaman, New Orleans Hornets
2 of 5Chris Kaman is a former Los Angeles Clipper. He's also a low-post enforcer who is in the midst of a frustrating season in which his team can hardly buy a win.
Should Blake Griffin hit the paint with Kaman down low, things could get ugly.
While Kaman is no thug, he is a physical defender. While he'll likely be matched up with DeAndre Jordan rather than Griffin, Kaman is one of the better help defenders at his position.
This opens the door for what we can only assume to be one hell of a battle above the rim.
Prediction: Blake Griffin over Chris Kaman
Marcin Gortat, Phoenix Suns
3 of 5Does anyone else get a strange, Timofey Mozgov-type feeling from the potential matchup of Blake Griffin and Marcin Gortat?
If you do, you know that Griffin's athleticism and Gortat's relentless play could lead to a physical meeting with a dunk on the line.
I would never accuse Gortat of being a dirty player, as he's the furthest thing from wrongly physical. He is a fiery competitor, though, who is currently tied for the final spot in the playoffs.
In other words, Gortat will do absolutely anything to protect the rim.
Anything.
Prediction: Gortat fouls Griffin; Griffin exacts revenge
Tyson Chandler, New York Knicks
4 of 5Tyson Chandler isn't the type of player who takes kindly to an opponent attacking the paint.
While many will fantasize about Blake Griffin's potential New York throwdown, what may occur could be closer to Jason Smith's treatment of the former Oklahoma Sooner.
Chandler is a no-nonsense big man who never backs down from a physical battle on the floor. He's also an excellent athlete who has made a living blocking shots on the low block.
While Griffin is never an easy player to defend, the Defensive Player of the Year candidate is certainly suited to get the job done.
Unlike the other names on this list, I believe he will.
Prediction: Tyson Chandler over Blake Griffin
Zaza Pachulia, Atlanta Hawks
5 of 5In a dream world, we'd see Blake Griffin go at it with Josh Smith.
More likely than not, however, it will be the Hawks' "throw caution to the wind" center who puts it all on the line in defense of the rim: Zaza Pachulia.
Pachulia has been phenomenal in the second half of the season, but let's be real; anyone who tries to take on Griffin while he's in flight will drown in a sea of flames.
As much as I like Pachulia, he is no exception to the rule.
This one could get ugly.
Prediction: Blake Griffin over Zaza Pachulia
