NBA Draft 2012: Tony Wroten Jr. and More Players with Incredible Upside

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

The 2012 NBA draft class is stacked with talent and players with top-10 potential, such as Tony Wroten Jr., aren’t projected to go until the latter portion of the first round.

With so many elite prospects in this class, it’s going to be hard for an organization to make a wrong choice on draft day.

Let’s take a look at a few absolute cant-miss players that should be available well past the lottery.

Moe Harkless

This St. John’s product just looks like an NBA swingman. He’s 6’8”, 190 pounds with the ability to jump out of the gym.

He’s going to be able to guard threes at the next level and is a solid rebounder. If he can add some muscle and work on his shot, the sky is the limit for this kid.

Harkless can become a star in this league, the question is, does he want to?

Royce White

White would be a lottery pick if it weren’t for his crippling anxiety disorder that many teams are skeptical of.

He’s got an NBA-ready body and can easily bang inside with anyone due to his 6’8”, 240-pound frame.

Royce can also dribble, pass and score around the basket just as well as anyone his size in the draft.

If he didn’t suffer from a treatable condition, the Iowa State product would be a top-10 pick.

Tony Wroten Jr.

All this kid is really lacking is a jumper. Plenty of elite NBA point guards have struggled to develop their shot while they are young (see Rajon Rondo).

He is a legit 6’5”, 205 pounds and a gifted passer. He’s got the innate ability and size to become an elite PG in the league.

If Wroten works on processing the game mentally at a high level, everything else will fall into place.
