College Football Recruiting: 10 Prospects That Play Down Right Nasty

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

With football, having a competitive mean streak is imperative. You need to be nasty, fierce, stout and forceful on the field, especially in the trenches. However, at some skill possitions, being nasty won't work.

Well, for this read, who cares about the skill positions. Today, we're talking up the 10 prospects that play the meanest and nastiest in the country.

Let's check em out.

10. Dee Liner, DT

1 of 10

Committed to Auburn, Liner is a 6'4", 270 pound DL that has good athleticisim. However, when it's time to just line up and get after it, he'll get nasty and mix it up with a blocker.

Liner won't shy away from contact, doesn't back down from power and mass and will deliver a blow to crush a ball carrier and knock the ball free.

9. Eddie Vandergoes, DE

2 of 10

Vandergoes stands 6'4", 285 pounds and is as strong as an ox. He can toss and shed and doesn't mind getting funky in the trenches. Look for his college -ready strength to be the main factor for getting him on the field early in his career.

8. Jake Raulerson, OT

3 of 10

Raulerson is a 6'5', 250 pound OL prospect that has a mean streak. A real bad mean streak. He'll look to finish his man quickly, uses power and strength to walk and steer targets and will maul his opponent in the run game.

He may be undersized, by Raulerson is nasty.

7. Tyrone Crowder, OG

4 of 10

Crowder is a 6'3", 305 pound OL prospect that looks like a college guard. He's tough, big and mean on the field. He'll finish on smaller targets, impose his size on DL's by leaning on them snap after snap and if he can de-cleat you he will.

6. Montravius Adams, DL

5 of 10

6'3", 285 pounds, Adams looks like a good 3-technique guy. He's explosive at the snap, can blow by blockers and has a great motor. He's raw, but right now he's nasty, which gets him on this list.

Adams will mix it up in the trenches with anyone and doesn't back down from a challenge.

5. Justin Manning, DT

6 of 10

Manning has some "Ward Daddy" in him, that's for sure. He's a 6'2", 275 pounder that keeps coming and coming snap after snap.

Manning is unblocakble when he's fired up, has the strength to anchor, works well in the trenches and will chase well from the backside in pursuit to make a play.

4. Wyatt Shallman, FB

7 of 10

Shallman will play fullback in Ann Arbor and the 6'3", 245 pound has the willingness to be a dominant lead blocker.

His size will allow him sustain well vs. linebackers in run alleys, yet it's Shallman's demeanor and toughness that will prevail. Look for Michigan backs to start seeing increased rushing numbers when Shallman becomes the top fullback for Brady Hoke.

3. Robert Nkemdiche, DL

8 of 10

The nation's best player has incredible strength and power to his game. Nkemdiche goes 6'5", 270 pounds and is a bully on the field.

He can walk back blockers with remarkable power, can bull rush and backs chipping him don't seem to faze him at all. Nkemdiche plays to his size and then some on the field.

2. Kenny Bigelow, DL

9 of 10

Whether it be at DE or DT, Bigelow will mix it up with a blocker. He won't get in a wrestling match, but Bigelow won't back down from size and mass neither.

6'3" and 285 pounds, Bigelow has doubled his physicality through the years in his game, will show off good strength and power and can get nasty with anybody in the country in the trenches.

1. Patrick Kugler, OG

10 of 10

Kugler is the son of a coach, so his technique is on point. However, the 6'4", 270 pounder is the meanest and nastiest player in the nation on the field.

Kugler will try to punish opponents in the game and if a rusher slips, he'll convert his slides to mauls to keep his man in the dirt. Kugler can finish on anybody as a drive blocker, has great strength and is sheer mauler.
