UFC on Fuel 2 Results: Questions We Still Have About Brian Stann
In the co-main event of UFC on Fuel 2, Brian Stann was able to get back into the win column after knocking out Alessio Sakara in the first round.
The win was Stann's ninth KO victory and his 12th overall.
With the win, Stann is hoping to climb back up the middleweight ranks. But there are some questions we still have for Stann before he climbs back up to the top.
Can Stann Get by on Knockout Power Alone?
1 of 3It's no secret that Stann's biggest weapons are his hands.
Along with last night's knockout of Sakara, Stann has knocked out UFC vets Jorge Santiago and Chris Leben.
But though a fight can change with one punch, Stann will need to get more technical or add other moves to his game plan if he is going to hang with some of the division's top fighters.
Can He Hang with a High-Level Wrestler or Submission Artist?
2 of 3Two of Stann's biggest career losses have been to high-level wrestlers.
Phil Davis defeated Stann by unanimous decision after trying to submit him multiple times, while Chael Sonnen defeated Stann by arm-triangle choke.
With fighters like Sonnen, Mark Munoz and Anderson Silva at the top of the division, Stann will have to improve his ground skills if he wants to reach the top of the division.
Is Stann Ready for a Top 5 Fighter?
3 of 3Before Stann was defeated by Chael Sonnen, he had won three straight fights, including wins over Chris Leben and Jorge Santiago.
While Stann is a dangerous fighter who is on the rise, the Sonnen fight proved just how much he still had to learn.
Stann finds himself in a position where he is not quite at the level as Sonnen and Munoz are, but he's still a good top-10 fighter.
If Stann can get past another mid-level middleweight, then he will be ready for another crack at a top-five fighter.
