USC Football Recruiting: Trojans Land Huge Verbal from 4-Star Defensive End

Rick McMahanJun 7, 2018

What has already been a big recruiting year for the Trojans just got even better when Scout.com 4-star defensive end, Kylie Fitts gave his verbal pledge to USC according to an article by Greg Biggins.

Fitts committed at the Trojans spring game saying, “I’m very excited to be a Trojan. My plan was to wait until next month or actually after our school was done with spring ball. I wanted to help the guys on my team get recruited and I figured if I was still out there, more coaches would come by and notice them."

Instead, Fitts pulled the trigger after talking to coach John Baxter about his academic plan and seeing the new John McKay Center.

For Fitts, it made perfect sense and he went on to say, “I’ve always wanted to play for USC, that’s my dream school. I’ve never wanted to go anywhere else to have this opportunity is incredible. It’s crazy because at their Junior Day, I didn’t think they really wanted me and now I’m a Trojan so it’s exciting.”

In Kylie Fitts, the Trojans get a high motor end whose size (6'4", 260 lbs) belies his athleticism.

Hailing from Redlands, Calif, Fitts held offers from over 15 programs including such powerhouses as Oklahoma, Nebraska and Notre Dame among many others.

Although he is solid with the Trojans, Fitts will take recruiting trips before letter of intent signing day but assured his recruiting coordinator James Cregg, “I’m still going to take trips, I asked coach Cregg about that. I said for the life experience of it, could I do my visits and he said as long as they got the last one, he was OK with it."

Another bonus is that Fitts expects to be an early entrant and thus will not count against the 2013 15 scholarship limit as sanctioned by the NCAA.

With Fitts verbal, the Trojans now have four non-binding commitments for 2013, including 5-star quarterback Max Browne and defensive end Kenny Bigelow, along with 4-star cornerback, Chris Hawkins.
