2012 NFL Draft: Several Teams Reportedly Interested in Browns' No. 4 Pick

Jun 2, 2018

If the Cleveland Browns choose to trade down from No. 4 in the 2012 NFL Draft, they won't have any trouble finding a trading partner.

According to a report from Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer, "multiple" teams have called the Browns about the No. 4 pick.

Cabot reports "at least three or four teams in the top 20" have called, and there's a "decent" chance the Browns will decide to make a deal. Among the teams that have expressed interest are the St. Louis Rams (No. 6 pick) and Philadelphia Eagles (No. 15 pick).

There's been considerable buzz lately about teams trading up to draft Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill, but Cabot says that not all the teams calling the Browns are interested in him. There is also heavy interest in USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne and Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon.

Browns GM Tom Heckert said recently that he is willing to trade down "a few spots," but not all the way down to the late 20s as he did last year, when the Browns dealt the No. 6 pick to the Falcons so Atlanta could acquire Julio Jones.

That obviously puts a limit on the number of teams with whom the Browns can do business, though doing business with the Rams or Eagles is definitely not out of the question.

The Browns also hold the No. 22 pick in the draft, giving them a lot of options in terms of how they approach draft day.

Worth noting is the fact that the Minnesota Vikings, who hold the No. 3 pick in the draft, have also expressed a willingness to trade down.
