Rihanna Songs That Portray Liverpool FC This Season

Shubbankar SinghJun 7, 2018

Liverpool face Everton in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley tomorrow. This is a day before the 23rd anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster that affected the lives of many supporters. With Liverpool's season also not up to mark as Kenny Dalglish's men sit in eighth position, this weekend as this season has will bring mixed feelings.

People could use some cheering and bringing together before such an important Merseyside affair, where all are hoping that football will do the talking and nothing else. Enjoy a little humor and a lot of passion as we try to impose Rihanna lyrics on the various points of the Reds' season.

Feel free to opine in the comments section.

"Rude Boy"

1 of 7

"Rude Boy" lyrics can be stated for two things in Liverpool's season. Let me make it clear in this very first example that the song's context can vary. The lyrics are what matter.

Firstly, Charlie Adam in midfield. Although he has a good number of assists to his name he has been poor according to most. Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool fans have been wondering whether the clumsy tackler can raise his performance.

Thus, his play follows the line, "Come here rude boy, boy, can you get it up?

Come here rude boy, boy, is you big enough?"

Adam was asked whether he could get his performances up. Too bad he thought otherwise and a football reached Mars after his spot-kick against Cardiff at Wembley.

Keep running the jingle above in your mind while picturing the second instance. Patrice Evra got wound up by Luis Suarez at Anfield and child-like bickering ensued.

Along with the above lyrics, Luis Suarez and his nutmegs probably added, "Tonight I'mma turn your body out."

"Hard"

2 of 7

"They can say whatever. I'ma do whatever. No pain is forever. Yup, you know this.

Tougher than a lion, Ain't no need in trying. I live where the sky ends. Yup, you know this."

The above lyrics are typical of Lucas Leiva's Liverpool life during the first few years. Though, in the period from August 2011 till his injury, he was the best in his position in the Barclay's Premier League at least if not the world.

Despite of what some might say, Liverpool have sorely missed Lucas. It was evident in preseason, too, when the Reds were conceding so many in his absence. The QPR game was a fine example. Lucas would not have let that happen.

"Who think they test me now, Run through your town, I shut it down

Brilliant, resilient, Fan mail from 27 million

And I want it all, It's gonna take more than that

Hope that ain't all you got."

Lucas' performance this season has been so great that he can actually sing these words out. It was surprising how each one of these words fits. Lucas, however, is a shy, down-to-earth player who just wants to play football. Let us wish him all the best for next season before these last lines:

"Hard

The one word describes me, If I wasn't doing this, You know where I be, too hard"

"Where dem bloggers at, Where dem bloggers at

Where they at, where they at, where they at?"

This befits all those blogs that have hurled tonnes of insults to our Brazilian superstar. Cheers to him.

"Umbrella"

3 of 7

Liverpool's season got off to a very good start. It was promising so much in the league as well. It somehow started going off course. At this time, the players were very disappointed and needed the fans' support.

This is Liverpool we are talking about, so I do not need to confirm whether the players got their share of support or not. The song will do that:

"You have my heart, And we'll never be worlds apart

"But you'll still be my star, Baby cause in the dark
You can't see shiny cars, And that's when you need me there
With you I'll always share, Because

When the sun shines, we'll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever, Said I'll always be a friend, Took an oath I'ma stick it out till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever, Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella, You can stand under my umbrella

These fancy things, will never come in between, You're part of my entity, here for Infinity
When the war has took it's part, When the world has dealt it's cards
If the hand is hard, together we'll mend your heart

"You can run into my arms, It's OK don't be alarmed
Come here to me, There's no distance in between our love
So go on and let the rain pour, I'll be all you need and more"

The majority of fans have never let the players down. Another example in one of the next slides. Let us hope the same support remains at Wembley tomorrow, whether Liverpool win or lose.

"Love the Way You Lie"

4 of 7

I shall clarify again that this is mere humor.

Luis Suarez has been a fan favorite ever since arriving at Merseyside. He has had great backing from the manager, as well as was evident during the Suarez-Evra episode. Things might have turned sour when Suarez did not shake Evra's hand when Kenny Dalglish thought he would.

Dalglish said after the game Suarez had even confirmed to the manager that he would shake Evra's hand and diffuse the nuclear warhead and stop it from detonating, of which the media ensured anyhow. To the lyrics then:

"On the first page of our story, The future seemed so bright
Then this thing turned out so evil, I don’t know why I’m still surprised
Even angels have their wicked schemes, And you take that to new extremes
But you’ll always be my hero, Even though you’ve lost your mind

"Just gonna stand there and watch me burn, But that’s all right because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry, But that’s all right because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie, Ohhh, I love the way you lie"

Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez both apologized after that. Dalglish must have had a word with Suarez, and it has probably resulted in the Uruguayan working hard to ensure better discipline.

Hate That I Love You

5 of 7

As the horrendous run in March 2012 continued, the fans started getting more and more frustrated. Liverpool fans do not give up on their team very easily, but the worst run since more than 50 years ago was testing their patience to the hilt.

Players and the manager were blamed to varying extents. However, passionate Liverpudlians were still there, and in good numbers away at Blackburn to cheer their 10-man Liverpool side's winner in stoppage time.

"And I hate how much I love you boy, I can't stand how much I need you,

And I hate how much I love you boy, But I just can't let you go,
And I hate that I love you so"

"You completely know the power that you have, The only one makes me laugh"

"Said it's not fair, How you take advantage of the fact
That I... love you beyond the reason why, And it just ain't right"

"One of these days maybe your magic won't affect me, And your kiss won't make me weak
But no one in this world knows me the way you know me, So you'll probably always have a spell on me..."

This song truly echos what most faithful Liverpudlians have felt over the course of this season when Champions' League football has not been achieved yet again.

Cheers (Drink to That)

6 of 7

As Liverpool try to get to Wembley for a third time this season by beating Everton tomorrow, let us relive the Reds' glory day at Wembley. If you take Rihanna's word for it, you will be going:

"Cheers to the freakin' weekend, I drink to that, yeah yeah

"There's a party at the bar everybody put your glasses up and I drink to that
I drink to that."

Liverpool fans will be hoping it is the same in May, when they might face Tottenham or Chelsea if they get to the final. Mind you, it will not be easy. Neither the semifinal nor the final.

"Don't Stop the Music"

7 of 7

Concluding the slide show, I will only tell the all Liverpool fans to have some patience. No matter what the result is tomorrow, everyone should get behind the team. With more time at the club the present players will improve. Just look at Carroll and Henderson. Additions in the summer will also mean that the weak areas will be addressed. Soon the Reds's fans might be singing,

"Please don't stop the music, Please don't stop the music
Please don't stop the music, Please don't stop the music"

to Liverpool's style of play. Kenny Dalglish has already got Liverpool playing football that is pleasing to the eye, though not always. That will take time.

Next season, the fans will most probably be reiterating the lyrics mentioned above as the Reds have another successful season in the cup competitions and do their utmost and become one of the elite four to play Champions' League football. This will fill the coffers besides providing romantic Champions' League nights to Anfield. Rihanna will maybe release another album by then and another track whose lyrics can be imposed on the Reds' success.

Thanks for reading.
