2012 NFL Draft: The 6 Best Video Highlights of Doug Martin
Believe it or not, Kellen Moore was not the only reason the Boise State Broncos were so successful the past four seasons.
There have been other weapons in the Broncos offense that have proven to be just as useful in Chris Petersen's game plan, most notably Doug Martin—the team's leading rusher who figures to be a high draft pick.
Martin attended Boise State University from 2007 to 2011 and finished his career with 3,431 yards on 617 carries with 43 touchdowns.
As a senior in 2011, Martin was the MVP of the 2011 MAACO Bowl in Las Vegas after returning the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and rushing for 151 yards and a touchdown.
Martin was also valuable to the team as a blocker, a leader and someone who could catch the ball out of the backfield and play special teams.
While he may not be chosen within the first 32 picks, the team that does take Martin in the second or third round will have a dependable player who can bolster its running game.
Here are some highlights to show you just how good Martin can be.
Georgia 2011
1 of 6The best way to gain draft positioning is to play against top-notch talent.
Boise State played Georgia last season, giving the nation a chance to see the offense against a good Bulldogs defense.
Martin showed he could run between the tackles and catch the ball out of the backfield, and kept the Georgia secondary and linebackers busy all day long.
2011 Highlights
2 of 6He not only finds a way to get to the end zone, but Martin is shifty and can change his direction through the tackles.
Martin looks like a bigger version of Emmitt Smith (not as talented) and can make defenders miss up close.
Martin will be a good third-down back and someone a team can call upon to get the ball across the goal line in the red zone.
Nice Breakaway Speed
3 of 6Doug Martin has the ability to get open in the middle of the field and gain big yardage after the catch.
Here against Nevada, Martin not only made the first down, but broke tackles, eluded blockers and took the ball to the house.
MAACO Bowl vs. Utah
4 of 6I love seeing teams from out west put on passing displays. But, I also love seeing players with great speed.
I have never thought 40-yard times were important because the chance of a player running 40 yards each play from scrimmage was none.
Martin dominated this game by himself from the opening drive.
He Can Block
5 of 6Another good part of Martin's game is blocking in the backfield.
Martin can pick up the blitz and the linebacker coming from the outside to give the quarterback time to complete the pass or move out of the pocket.
Blocking is really a lost art in the offensive game today.
At the Combine, Martin Excelled
6 of 6While a 4.55 40-yard dash isn't blazing, Martin was a warrior in the bench press and showed he can not only run, but catch passes, too.
In a West Coast offense or pro-style set, the running back will be called upon to help in the passing game.
Martin showed he's one of the best runners coming out in this year's draft and could be the second back taken after Alabama's Trent Richardson.
