Trent Richardson to Take High School Senior with Leukemia to the Prom

Adam KramerApr 13, 2012

For three years, Trent Richardson has inflicted pain onto those that have attempted to bring him down. His physical running style coinciding with legs constructed with tree trunk dimensions and Photoshop-like arms have wreaked havoc on defensive coordinators and defensive backs tasked with stopping his forward progress.

He won two national championships carrying the ball for Alabama and then decided he was ready for the NFL. The entire SEC nation outside of Tuscaloosa was happy to pack his bags for him.

Before Richardson heads off to the NFL draft and learns his future destination, however, he has unfinished business to tend to in his home state.

Courtney Alvis, a senior at Hueytown (Ala.) High School, was diagnosed with leukemia last year. In need of a date for her senior prom, Courtney’s uncle—who has ties to the school—spread the word about Courtney. It appears he did a good job in getting the word out.

Richardson caught word of the situation and will be accompanying young Courtney to her high school prom this weekend, just before he heads out to New York City.

Yes, this is incredibly awesome on so many levels, and kudos to Richardson for showing off yet another fantastic character trait.

On that note, it simply cannot be easy for Richardson to find a tux that fits right given his size, and he doesn’t strike me as an “off the rack” kind of guy. His jacket is likely a size "WE DON'T HAVE THAT."

Given the week that was in the SEC, this is refreshing and welcomed news. Alabama television station WSFA caught up with Courtney as she readied herself for her big night.
