Tiger Woods: Rush Limbaugh's Words Ring True About Former Golf Star

Ryan RudnanskyJun 5, 2018

Political commentator Rush Limbaugh has certainly said some controversial things in the past, but he's dead-on about Tiger Woods.

Following Woods' meltdown at Augusta, Limbaugh said, via USA Today:

"

"I mean, the cure for Tiger would be to become entirely absent of any self-awareness. If he was totally able to not think about himself, then he'd be able to overcome it. Sure, I think the ability is still in there."

Limbaugh added that Woods knows everyone sees him as a sham, a bloated personality who has since lost his "Mr. Perfect" tag. He said that it has become a "mental thing" for Tiger.

Limbaugh is right about Woods. The 14-time major champion and owner of four green jackets showed this year that he still had the ability to steal a golf tournament from some of the world's top golfers. He placed second at the Honda Classic and won the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

But winning a major takes another level of concentration and focus, and Woods simply doesn't have that anymore. He's the man who cheated on Elin Nordegren with various mistresses (resulting in the highly-publicized divorce) and fired his longtime caddie Steve Williams, and he's well aware of the general public opinion surrounding him.

Woods kicking his golf club on the 16th hole in the second round of the Masters this year got way too much attention. It's not Woods' fiery personality that is dooming him, it's his focus on the golf course before he swings his golf club.

Limbaugh, who dabbles in golf himself, added on Monday:

"

"Golf is such a mental game. I think they ought to make prisoners play it. It's so frustrating. It makes you so mad at yourself. It can make you so irritated."

"

Woods is living in his own personal prison and the golf course is no longer his playground. It's a place of torment and anguish.
