Floyd Mayweather vs Miguel Cotto: HBO 24/7 Debuts This Saturday, April 14

King JJun 7, 2018

Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Mr. 24/7, himself, is back this Saturday April, 14 on HBO with 24/7 Mayweather/Cotto debuting at (9:45-10:15 p.m. ET/PT).

It will be another four-part episode series showing an all-access account of both Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Miguel Cotto as they prepare for their May 5 154 lb. world championship title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

This will be Mayweather's sixth appearance in a 24/7 series and Cotto's third appearance.

From their Face Off with Max Kellerman, both Floyd and Miguel seemed to have a mutual respect for one another. Cotto was his usual self, not a man of many words in pre-fight buildup, but Floyd on the other hand seemed a bit out of character, as he too was showing respect and even making clear that Cotto should be viewed as an undefeated champion, having losses to Margarito and Pacquiao at a catch-weight that limited Cotto.

It will be interesting, however, to see if Mayweather remains respectful and humble once the 24/7 series actually begins, for that is when we often see his alter ego persona, Money May, come out to play.

In past 24/7 series, Money May has been seen doing everything from flaunting his millions of dollars in cash to purchasing six-figure cars and betting six-figure sports bets on random nights of the week.  Money May was also seen trash talking many, if not all, of his opponents, even mentioning his opponents' families and relationships.

Speaking of families and relationships, it was in Floyd's last 24/7 appearance for the Victor Ortiz fight where the cameras caught a very disturbing altercation with Floyd Sr. and Floyd Jr., ending with the pound-for-pound star kicking his father out of his gym and camp.

Miguel Cotto, on the other hand, is all business and no-nonsense. He trains hard and does not turn up the personality for the cameras like Mayweather does so well.

We shall see if Money May attacks Cotto for being so boring during the 24/7 series, as he has done with virtually all of his opponents: Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley and Victor Ortiz.

Also, of course, Mayweather is dealing with some serious circumstances of a postponed 90-day prison sentence for his misdemeanor charges against his childrens' mother. It will be interesting to see if he addresses how he will be dealing with this.
