WWE News: Mick Foley Deserves a Retirement Match in WWE

Adam WellsApr 11, 2012

While there was some talk that perhaps Mick Foley would get a send-off match at WrestleMania 28, nothing ever materialized. With him still being on the WWE roster, there is time to give him that one last match he deserves.

Foley is clearly thinking about his final match, saying as much on Twitter

"

I believe I do have one more big bump left in me @ByMikeMooneyham - delivered on my terms, with a @WWE Superstar who respects what I've done

— Mick Foley (@realMickFoley) April 5, 2012"

Obviously, the first name that springs to mind is Dean Ambrose. The former Dragon Gate USA star has been working a feud with Foley for the last week, and putting him against someone like Foley could be the kind of match that gets him over to a mainstream crowd.

There is some risk in putting someone who isn't established in WWE against Foley, just because you don't know how the crowd is going to react.

Plus, there is a large portion of the audience that only knows Foley as the goofy comedy character he has portrayed on WWE television since re-signing with the company late last year.

If there is a strong story that Foley and Ambrose can come up with to make the match work, by all means, that should be the way for Foley to go out.

No matter what scenario Foley comes up with, WWE needs to give him a final match to send him off into that good night.

Even if he doesn't get the big retirement ceremony like some of the biggest stars in the past have, Foley has earned the right to get that one final moment in time.

He put his body through hell for WWE, and every other promotion he worked for, and one last match would be a great way for Vince McMahon, everyone behind the scenes and the fans to say "thank you" to one of the most unique individuals in wrestling history.
