PGA Tour: RBC Heritage New Sponsor, Favorites and TV Times

Fred AltvaterApr 11, 2012

The Masters is over. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald were non-factors.

Masters champion Bubba Watson did some more crying on Golf Channel Morning Drive Monday morning before flying up to New York, where he did even more crying on the Letterman show.

For a “good ol' boy” he does a lot of crying.

The PGA Tour circus moved to Myrtle Beach for Darius Rucker’s annual Hootie and the Blowfish Celebrity Pro-Am on Monday, and then to Hilton Head and the newly named RBC Heritage.

Brandt Snedeker will defend on the short and tight Harbour Town Golf Links.

The Heritage was held without a sponsor in 2011 and was in danger of losing its spot as a PGA Tour event.

RBC was kind enough to pick up the sponsor’s tab for the Heritage and has a five-year commitment to the tournament.

The Heritage was started in 1969 and put Hilton Head on the map as a premier golf destination.

Harbour Town Golf Links’ tight fairways and small greens make it a shot-makers paradise.

The list of winners includes some of the game's greats. Arnold Palmer won the inaugural event in 1969. Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo and Greg Norman have all won here.

Davis Love III has won the Heritage five times in his career.

Luke Donald was the 2011 Heritage runner-up and will try to improve on his poor play at the Masters last week.

Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson, Mark Wilson and Matt Kuchar should be among the favorites this week.

The RBC Heritage can be viewed on the Golf Channel on Thursday and Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM and at the same times Saturday and Sunday on CBS.
