New York Knicks vs. Chicago Bulls: Live Analysis, Highlights and Reaction
Ethan Sherwood StraussJun 7, 2018
- Derrick Rose was a game-time decision and sadly, the choice is to sit this one out. Chicago Bulls by 12?
- Tip off starts at 9:30 PM EST, or possibly, when Celtics-Heat finally ends. The Knicks and Bulls met on Sunday and it took two overtimes to decide. Looking forward to a good one, even without last year's MVP.
- 1st quarter: Baron Davis is playing like the reminder of how good Baron Davis should have been--so much so, that Iman Shumpert bizarrely threw him an alley oop FAR from the basket. Carmelo Anthony is regressing to the mean just hard enough to delude Knicks fans into thinking they have a title shot. What I mean is, he's playing well.
- Jeff Van Gundy on botched New York plays in transition: "Kids, this is what not to do on a fastbreak." Knicks are no worse for wear though, they're up three after one, Anthony has 11 points on seven shots.
- 2nd quarter: One of your comments, presented without comment: "The Bulls had to win the previous game and need to win this one. But in the end, who cares? We need Rose healthy for the playoffs, we are already there. The Knicks better watch out and make sure they don't get booted by the Bucks or Philly (which I hope). =)"
- I was lying about that "without comment" thing. More emoticons, please.
- Jared Jeffries tries his hand at offense, botches a hilarious crossover. I think being on the wrong end of this Tyreke Evans burn inspired this ill-fated flight of fancy.
Driving against the Bulls is un-fun. Here is an example:
- Halftime: Bulls lead 47-35, the bottom's fallen out of Baron's brain. One of your comments presented without comment: "Please put Steve Novak on Kyle Korver that what everyone wants to see lol."
- I liked that last comment. Whoops, that's a comment.
- JaVale McGee announces over Twitter that he's dying his hair blonde.
- 3rd quarter: Good example of why the Bulls are frustrating: With five minutes left in the third, they squeeze three possession out of one, thanks to offensive rebounding. It resulted in zero points, but yeesh, incredible frontcourt effort.
- Carmelo at the four-spot is a delight for basketball nerds. You see Anthony guarded on one end by Luol Deng, and oddly guarding Carlos Boozer on the other. I'm still adjusting to Carmelo Anthony, power forward.
- 4th quarter: Bulls are up 72-62, with the Bulls slogging ahead of the Knicks with consistency. Some hero has recorded Jon Barry's halftime thoughts to Youtube. Why he did this? I have no clue, but it all reminds me of this comic.
- One of your comments, presented without comment: "Knicks are the most dumbiest team in all of sports."
- This has been an "arm's length game," with the Bulls holding the Knicks at around a 10 point deficit most of the way through. The most dramatic moment was when Luol Deng fell on his wrist.
- Game Over: Bulls 98, Knicks 86. Omer Asik and Kyle Korver combine for the play of the game when Chef Linguini (Asik) blocks Tyson Chandler into oblivion, leading to a sweet Korver three:
Also worth a re-view: Rip Hamilton proves that he can actually do something other than catch and shoot.
