The Power of Fedor Emelianenko

Victor ChenJan 21, 2009

As we approach Affliction's Day of Reckoning, MMA fans will have the honor and privilege to watch the world's best mixed martial artist, Fedor Emelianenko. Fedor, in my opinion, epitomizes the true martial artist spirit.

He does not show off, talk negative about his opponents, or glorify in his success. Whether Fedor wins this Saturday or not, he has embraced the essence of his mystique and the honor of a human being. This is what MMA fans should recognize, and this is why he is the baddest man on the planet.

With that being said, Jan. 24 will bring MMA fans once again to witness a master of his craft. Andrei Arlovski will have to unleash his entire arsenal of weapons, plus some additions, if he expects to win this fight.

Although I have stated time and time again in my previous articles that anything can happen in a fight, fighting Fedor is like fighting the Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson of boxing. The difference is this is not a boxing match and rest assure, Fedor is ready for combat.

Please do not get me wrong, Arlovski is a danger for any fighter, especially now that he appears to be back to his "original" fighting style when he was on the way to becoming the UFC champion. Arlovski is ready to fight.

He has watched Fedor on tape, honed his boxing and kickboxing skills, and I'm sure worked on his submissions. But then again, how do you prepare to fight Fedor and his mystique when no other MMA fighter in the world even comes close.

Remember the days of Pride and Fedor's matches with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira? Nogueira was unstoppable until he met Fedor. Fedor defeated him not once, but twice. And the old talks about Randy Couture possibly facing Fedor?

Randy Couture is amazing and being a five-time UFC champion, he possesses the skills to defeat Fedor but I ask MMA fans, honestly, do you think Randy would last against Fedor if he could not against Brock Lesnar?

And I am putting my money where it counts knowing that Fedor hits with more precision and power than Brock Lesnar. It's a different kind of power. Not external but internal, just like internal martial arts. Don't believe me? Go visit the Shaolin Temple in China, and you will see what I am talking about.

So be prepared this weekend, sit at the edge of your seat, and watch the power of Fedor as he embraces the martial-art spirit. It is a sight you will not want to miss.
