The Morning Tailgate

After two days without it, today we re-introduce our readers to their JSF Morning Tailgate, albeit with a somewhat abbreviated version. 

For those out there who have been having trouble with the site or wondering why we’ve been a shade light on material this week, just know that we are working on some technical “back of the house” crap that will be completed today and all will be back to normal. 

And of course by “we”, we mean Sebek, who is the only one of us who understands “back of the house” stuff.  Just for that, we have allocated the first Tailgate bratwurst for Mr. Sebek this morning. 

What can we say, the guy just loves eating tubed meat while working on the site.

1963 - Hakeem Olajuwon is born in Nigeria.  25 years later he would be featured in the NBA Superstars video to the song “How Ya Like Me Now” by Kool Moe Dee.  Pretty much the American dream, right there.

1973 - The AFC beats the NFC 33-28 in the third NFL Pro Bowl.  Even 36 years ago, people didn’t give a shit about it.

1989 - Wayne Gretzky passes Marcel Dionne for second on the NHL all time scoring list.  And thank God too, because the name Wayne is way more manly than Marcel.###MORE###

Sometimes in the headline writer’s quest to intertwine picture w/ headline, headline writer encounters some problems.

A public backlash is to be expected, and you have no choice but to change your catchphrase.

Don’t ever say the headline writer works a stress free job.

This economy has hit us all hard.  Even those of us who at one point played a truly iconic movie bully from the 80s are sometimes forced to take a paycheck where they can find it.  Even if that happens to be playing a Viking warrior for a Capital One commercial…

When you think about it, we suppose that role is basically just some face paint away from when he played this one…
