WWE News: Very Latest on Rey Mysterio's Injury Status and His Return to WWE
The WWE has a lot of injured superstars at the moment, including Wade Barrett and Sin Cara.
But at the very top of that list is one of the most popular superstars in the company: Rey Mysterio.
Mysterio has been out of action since August 2011 after undergoing yet another knee surgery, and though he’s stated in multiple interviews that he was hoping to compete at WrestleMania 28, we know that that obviously didn’t happen.

So, what’s up with Mysterio, and when can we plan on seeing him back in a WWE ring? Let’s find out.
From SEScoops.com:
"Rey Mysterio says he’s trying to return to the ring within the next few weeks. He wrote on Twitter Sunday night:
“I really miss performing for all of u & thank u 4 all the LUV,i am pushing myself to come back from my injury by May! Almost their!1 LUV!”
"
As noted before, Mysterio has said time and time again that he was going/hoping to return to action in time for WrestleMania 28, but something prevented him from coming back before the pay-per-view. So, we really don’t know if Mysterio is actually going to come back soon or not.
But if he is indeed ready to return to the ring, here’s what I’d do: I’d have him return at the 2012 WWE Draft (which should be sometime within the next month or so) and get drafted to SmackDown.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve always felt like Mysterio was synonymous with SmackDown, and he seems to be much more of an afterthought on Raw.
So, I’d move Mysterio to SmackDown and immediately place him into a feud with an upper mid-card heel. Perhaps someone like Dolph Ziggler, The Miz or Wade Barrett would work.
Mysterio undoubtedly still has a place in this company, and he could put on one hell of a series of matches with someone like Ziggler whenever he comes back.
Regardless of whether my theory plays out or not, though, I think we can expect Mysterio to have a high-profile role in what could be his last run on either Raw or SmackDown.
Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
