Blake Griffin Video: Watch Clippers Star Hit Amazing No-Look Shot
Blake Griffin knows how to make a highlight reel. Usually he accomplishes it with thunderous dunks on pinpoint passes from Chris Paul. But the Los Angeles Clippers superstar forward found a new way to make fans' jaws drop against the Sacramento Kings.
A video of his incredible no-look shot is embedded above, along with a couple trademark jams.
Griffin shows off awesome anticipation to make the entire play happen. As soon as fellow high-flying big man DeAndre Jordan makes a block, Griffin takes off on a fast break. Paul finds him in stride, but things appear to break down when Donte Greene chases him down.
Instead of backing the ball out, Griffin keeps attacking the rim and throws up a wild shot. While stumbling to the floor, he just flips the ball back over his shoulder and somehow it floats through the hoop, much to the announcer's pleasure.
Think about all the things that had to go exactly right for the play to happen. From Jordan's block bouncing right to Caron Butler, to the pass from Paul and then the timing of the shot, it's truly miraculous.
When everybody starts talking about shots of the year at season's end, this play by Griffin certainly deserves strong consideration. If you don't think it's difficult, try replicating it yourself. You'll be out there from sun up to sun down and probably still won't be able to match it.
The highlight video also features two dunks, which are both terrific in their own right, but simply don't compare to the no-look shot. Griffin torched the Kings for 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting to go along with 14 rebounds and four assists.
Say what you want about his still-developing mid-range game, but he's still able to dominate games simply by outworking opponents at the rim. And every once in a while he'll throw in a spectacular play to showcase his tremendous athleticism.
The Kings found both those things out the hard way on Saturday night.
