5 Ways WWE Superstar John Cena Can Redeem Embarrassing Loss to The Rock

Riley KontekApr 8, 2012

John Cena's efforts at WrestleMania this year came up short, falling to a clean pin by his adversary, The Rock. This loss was devastating to the promotion's top star, as he was defeated by a wrestler who hasn't performed on a regular basis for about seven years.

Now that WrestleMania has passed and John Cena's feud with The Rock is over, he will be looking to redeem his embarrassing loss to "The People's Champion." There is a storyline brewing between himself and Brock Lesnar following Lesnar's return and subsequent F-5 of Cena.

Either way, the next year is crucial for John Cena in repairing the damage done at WrestleMania. Here are five ways he can redeem himself.

Win a Rematch at Next Year's WrestleMania

1 of 5

The best way I can think of for John Cena to redeem himself is to win a rematch over the man who just defeated him at WrestleMania. It would even up the series and put Cena back on equal ground with The Rock.

Equaling up the score at next year's WrestleMania would be the best thing for Cena, as it was the biggest loss of his career. Many fans do not want to see a repeat of this match, as the buildup was long and grew stale, but it is the best option for Cena.

Landing the Attitude Adjustment and cleanly pinning would easily be the best way for John Cena to redeem his loss at this year's WrestleMania.

Win a Feud Against Brock Lesnar

2 of 5

The feud was already started with a boom, that boom being Lesnar's F-5 of Cena on last week's Raw Supershow.

Brock Lesnar was brought back to the company to make money, and a feud with John Cena has the potential to earn a ton of money. This is a feud Cena needs to win, as a loss to another part-time wrestler would damage his image.

If Cena were to win a feud over the former UFC star, it would allow him to repair the damage done at WrestleMania. Lesnar was one of the WWE's top stars in the "Ruthless Aggression Era," showing an unstoppable aura at that time.

Time will tell what this feud will lead up to, but it needs to result in a Cena victory.

Win WWE Championship

One of the best ways for a Cena redemption would be to get gold around his waist. Cena has won the belt more than anybody, but another title reign would definitely help repair the damage of his loss to The Rock.

Currently, CM Punk is the champion, and he is feuding with Chris Jericho. When that feud subsides, Cena should make a run at the title.

Join Forces with CM Punk and Drive John Laurinaitis out

4 of 5

Currently, John Laurinaitis is the general manager of Raw and SmackDown. Thus far, he has been an unfair authority figure despite his claim of his reign of "people power."

Eventually, the baby faces on Raw and SmackDown are going to get fed up with the constant unfairness that Laurinaitis is dishing out. The two top stars who could lead to his expulsion could be CM Punk and John Cena.

If Cena were to help drive out the evil Laurinaitis, it could finally erase the boos he hears from the audience on nightly basis while redeeming the loss to The Rock. That would be huge.

End the Undertaker's Streak

5 of 5

This would be the ultimate redemption for Cena, but it is something I would rather not see.

The Undertaker has run his WrestleMania record to 20-0, but it is looking as if a match with Cena may happen at next year's WrestleMania. If this were to happen, Cena could be the guy to end the streak.

In my eyes, a win over The Undertaker at WrestleMania would erase any embarrassing thing that has ever happened to Cena at any point in the WWE. Beating 'Taker would be the biggest achievement of Cena's career.

Hopefully, this isn't the case, though.
