SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 144, Dorial Green-Beckham, Missouri WR
Starting April 2, the SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players for 2012 in the SEC.
No. 144: Dorial Green-Beckham, No. 5, Wide Receiver, Missouri
Strengths
Missouri picked a good time to join the SEC, because SEC fans will get four years (unless he jumps to the NFL early) of watching Dorial Green-Beckham—the next great SEC wide receiver. Green-Beckham was the consensus No. 1 recruit in the 2012 class and was named the High School Athlete of the Year by Sporting News in 2012. The 6'6", 220-pounder is an absolute monster who could come in and be a star in the SEC immediately.
Weaknesses
He's never done it before. Green-Beckham's career stat line is zero catches for zero yards and zero touchdowns. Plus, he's stepping into a situation at Missouri that's very fluid. Head coach Gary Pinkel's offenses have been close to unstoppable in the Big 12, but he will have to make some adjustments to the speed of SEC defenses. That may cut into Green-Beckham's production initially.
2012 Prediction
He's going to be a beast in the SEC, and that will become apparent early in 2012. T.J. Moe will probably be Missouri's No. 1 wide receiver, but Green-Beckham will rise to "1B" early in his Tiger career. Expect big things from him this year and years to come.
