As the SF 49ers Struggle To Find an OC, There Is Someone They Forgot About
Coach Mooch...
Yes he struggled with the Detroit Lions but who hasn't struggled there.Maybe its wishful thinking but he is what coach Singletary wants as an offensive coordinator. He was unjustly fired 'cause crybaby Terrell Owens wanted to go deep every play and blamed the loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs on mooch's playcalling.
But think about this: The 49ers haven't had a winning season since he was fired.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Since 1997 (his first season) to 2002 (his last), no one rushed for more yards than the 49ers besides the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was a QB coach and can develop whoever we choose as our franchise QB. Jeff Garcia was the first 49er QB to throw back-to-back 30+ touchdown seasons under mooch. Steve Young or Joe Montana didn't do that.
He has an eye for offensive talent that fit his system. Jeremy Newberry, Ron Stone, Derrick Deese, Fred Beasley, Kevan Barlow, Garrison Hearst, Eric Johnson, Charlie Garner, and Tai Streets...All of these guys flourished in Mooch's systems and most of these guys were either busts, no names, or has beens after Mariucci left
Maybe the way he was treated by 'Niners ownership left a bad taste in his mouth, but we have a new team president in Jed York. He was a hot commodity after the 49ers let him go. After the Lions got done with him he looked like the worst coach in the league.
He will be motivated to get back to his winning ways and getting back on track to become a head coach. What better way to start than go back to the team that desperately need a rejuvenation in their offense?
If he fixes our offense, I have no doubt he would become a head coach in the NFL again and, I think that's all the motivation he needs.
