Blake Griffin Dunk Video: Watch Collection of Clippers Star's Epic Posterization
With Los Angeles Clippers star forward Blake Griffin's recent slam dunks over Los Angeles Lakers counterpart Paul Gasol being the talk of the NBA, somebody thought it was a good idea to create a video of his all-time best jams. They were certainly correct.
In just two short seasons in the NBA, Griffin has gained the reputation of being the league's most thunderous dunker. He has posterized some of the league's best defenders and best overall players during that time, and it is a big reason why he has become such a fan favorite.
Although this video included dunks from last season, there is easily enough material to make one for this year alone. Everyone remembers Griffin's insane slam over Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins as he rose up and threw the ball into the hoop. That may have only been topped by his two slams over Gasol a few days ago.
In terms of the highlight-reel play, there may be no player better than Griffin. Because of his unique combination of size and athleticism, he can do things on the court that most would never dream of. With that said, though, there has been plenty of talk suggesting he might be all style and no substance.
Griffin has excellent numbers, as he is averaging nearly 21 points and 11 rebounds per game, but there is a school of thought that he's overrated because of his dunking prowess. While that may be true to some degree, there are very few players in this league capable of averaging a double-double with over 20 points per contest, but that is precisely what Griffin does.
Perhaps he doesn't have much range as a shooter and he isn't particularly good from the charity stripe, but Griffin is a rare athlete who holds an advantage over almost every player in the league. Some will point to a highlight video of his dunks as an example of his shallow style of play, but I view it as a badge of honor for him.
The Clippers are 33-22 this season, which is good for fourth place in the Western Conference. The addition of point guard Chris Paul obviously has a ton to do with their improvement, but Griffin has grown as a player as well. Without him, they wouldn't be anywhere near their current position and they might not even be a playoff team.
When you consider how impressive the dunks in the video are, it's tough to believe that he has only been around for two seasons. There is some worry that due to his physical style he could have a shorter career than most, but I would guess that we'll see Griffin embarrassing defenders for at least another decade.
Whenever it's finally all said and done for Griffin, he'll likely have a dunk highlight reel that's 10 minutes long. Until then, you'll just have to enjoy this one, and know that you may be watching the best dunker of his generation go to work.
