NFL's New Nike Uniforms Will Be Featured in 'Madden NFL 13'

It's alright to exhale: Nike's new NFL uniforms will be included in the video game Madden NFL 13.

Word became official on Friday that the changes to the NFL uniforms will not just be limited to what we see when turning on our television set on Sundays, but also when you fire up your XBox or Playstation console. Nike signed a five-year, exclusive deal with the NFL that took effect earlier in the week and in doing so replaced Reebok to become the officially licensed provider of the league's uniforms.

"We moved all of the people working on the Nike project into one room, and we even disabled the Internet connection in the room just to guarantee there would be no leaks," said the game's art director Jean Adams.

"I first saw these a few months ago, so it's great to finally be able to show what they will look like in the game."

Earlier in the week we highlighted some of the changes that will be seen in the new Nike uniforms. By examining these changes, we should have an insight as to what we'll see diagnostically on the pixel versions of our favorite NFL heroes when the game officially launches in August.

Here are some of the changes to expect in Madden NFL 13's player uniforms:

• New fly-wire collaring
• A tighter looking, form-fitting jersey that illustrates the "stretch-woven" material it's made from
• Pant striping made from mesh material
• New hip-padded designs

It's probable that only the most hardcore students of the Madden franchise will actually be able to tell the difference, but it's nice to know that Madden has an early eye towards the details that just might make Madden NFL 13 something close to the great installments of the series past successors.
