NCAA Hockey Championship 2012: Parker Milner Will Carry BC to Championship

If Boston College wins the national championship Saturday over Ferris State, the MVP award might not be enough to give to goaltender Parker Milner.

Milner is hands down the hottest player in the nation right now, scorching through March with a 8-0-0 record. He averaged only 0.88 goals per game and stopped over .971 percent of his shots. 

The 21-year-old is the first goalie since 2006 to post back-to-back shutouts in the NCAA tournament. 

Milner's brilliant shutout streak of more than 193 minutes was snapped with just a minute to go in Boston College's 6-1 win over Minnesota, but he made clutch save after save from point-blank range to keep a sizable Eagles lead. 

His 28-5-0 record is easily the most impressive record among goalies. The junior may not stick around for his senior season after such a year, but his effect on Boston College hockey will be felt for a long time.

Milner's play even resurrects the offense when they hit a snag.

Boston College's 18-game winning streak has more to do with Milner than their offense. Milner's last loss as goalie was early December of 2011. 

Milner's saves early in the game were vital to Boston College's 6-1 slaughter of Minnesota on Thursday. There were a couple of unbelievable stops he had to keep the Golden Gophers from taking an early lead, which would've spurned momentum from the Eagles and could have changed the fate of the game.

Against Cinderella team Ferris State, Milner's dominance between the pipes will only strengthen en route to a championship.
