Smackdown: The Struggle for the Future

AkDJan 20, 2009

After the infamous 1997 screwjob, Bret Hart wanted nothing to do with the WWE. I despised WCW, even though I watched it sometimes. With that, I took Vince, HBK, and Triple H's side.

Bret Hart had spoke about what had went down that night on numerous occasions. He and McMahon already had a rocky relationship and he was surprised by Hbk's (Shawn Michaels for those who don't know) actions.

But what really got my mind oscillating was the way he talked about Triple H. His Face looked like he could run over Triple H reverse the car and do it again.

I wonder why and that thought has never left my head...until now, 13 years later since I first started watching wrestling. While many believe Hulk Hogan to be the most selfish wrestler, I believe otherwise, and I intend on telling you why—with good reason.

The most selfish wrestler and in my opinion is not one of the greatest is Triple H. The rock, Austin, Hogan and others have passed on the torch respectively.

There comes a time when an era/generation is over and you have to pass on the torch. e.g. Rock and Sock connection losses to Evolution, Hogan loses to Rock and so on. WWE needs the future generation to step up.

But that is only the half of it. The "legends" and "Veterans" must pass the torch, and that is something Triple H doesn't seem to fathom. He tries to bring back DX with Hbk. I loved DX and they put the "attitude" in the attitude era. But now looking at them is pathetic.

It makes me sick to my stomach to see one of the greatest stables now appealing for little children, talking about cocks, and advertising for WWE shop zone. This isn't 1998, Triple H, get over yourself. This brings me to Smackdown. In the 2008 draft lottery everyone though Batista coming to raw was the show stealer...it wasn't. Triple H going to smackdown was.

Why? Everybody in Raw's backstage was ready to party now that wwe's No. 1 world title chaser was gone and the Smackdown's locker room lost any smiles they had because they knew what was coming. Raw now had room for growth, more storylines, more champions, more everything.

To be honest I utterly doubt that the Orton punt to McMahon would have happened if Triple H was on Raw still. Now on smackdown, he has sucked the life out of it. I barely watched smackdown enough but watch it to see if I'm correct. He must always be in the spotlight.

Can smackdown please work on Mvp a bit more, and what happened to R-Truth? A friend of mine loves Kennedy and got me wondering why isn't he in action? He's young, throw him in the ring! I estimated Triple H promos/matches/storylines or anything related to him can take up anywhere from 20 minutes to half of the show.

How ironic WWE talks about the future and wants their future stars to shine. How can they when Triple H won't step down? Jeff hardy is the champion and is feuding with edge can they get some attention?

Triple H reminds me of a high school girl and he is always need attention. Smackdown should be changed Triple H's show. No body cannot defeat him without cheating or him being injured or hurt prior to the match. The same can be said for John Cena but he's a whole other story.

Mvp losing streak ending because Triple H couldn't lose his rumble spot. Why couldn't Mvp win on a different situation. Granted Cena, Orton, and Batista all beat him at wrestlermania we still wins the most matches yearly only second to Cena.

Triple H is determined to pass Ric Flair's 16 World titles streak, which he probably will. Im optimistic tough. Christian's arrival/return to the WWE should pump some life into the broken dow car that is smackdown.

I see so many possibilities with Edge/Christian/Jeff & Matt Hardy. maybe a TLC at Wrestlemania 25? (fingers crossed). Look at Raw since Triple H's departure from Raw.

Jericho's heel rise, Orton's transformation, The Legacy's bulid up, JBL/Hbk storyline, Santino & Beth (which I'm fond of), along with Rosa Mendes who looks promising, Dolph Ziggler, Regal/Layla vs CM Punk. Then look at smackdown. Other than Edge/Hardy's Championship struggle what more do we have other than Triple H vs Vickie Guerrero?

Triple H, along with The Undertaker, whom I forgot to mention earlier, needs to pass the torch and exit wwe gracefully. I know what some of you are thinking what about Shawn Michales? He's old too? HBK hasn't had the world title since 2004 or won the rumble in over a decade.

He is more athletic than Triple H and Undertaker combined right now and can sell more moves then them more efficiently even given the fact that he's 42 and and about a two years older than Triple H. HBk also lost the Jericho feud last year.

Think about it, guys...when was the last time Triple H lost a feud? If only Orton can come and punt him half way to hell just as he did Vince. Expect Triple H to end up in main event of Wrestlemania somehow.

He'll probably win the Elimination Chamber and headline Wrestlemania for what, the fourth or fifth time in a row? Happy 25th anniversary.
