Bobby Petrino: Strange Details Emerge about Arkansas Coach's Motorcycle Crash
When Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino addressed his recent motorcycle crash at a Tuesday press conference, he didn't mention that there were any additional passengers.
We now know that Petrino was riding with former Arkansas volleyball player and current Razorback Foundation fundraiser Jessica Dorrell when he crashed his motorcycle over the weekend.
Update: Thursday, April 5 at 11:43 p.m. EST
Petrino was placed on paid administrative leave by the University of Arkansas on Thursday, per the Associated Press.
Petrino released a statement, via John Engleman of CBS.
This is according to a police report of the situation, which was released on Thursday and examined by the Associated Press. The revelation that Dorrell was involved in the accident contradicts a statement from the Petrino family that said "no other individuals" were involved.
The 25-year-old Dorrell was hired by the 51-year-old Petrino in March as a student-athlete development coordinator last week. Per the AP, her job is "organizing the recruiting process for the football team, including initial eligibility for each incoming player."
Dorrell was not injured in the accident, and she told police that she wasn't sure what caused it. Petrino told the police that the accident was caused by wind and the sun, and he had to be hospitalized with broken ribs and other injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
Petrino has since returned to practice, and police say he will not be cited for the incident.
Deadspin.com did its own examination of the police report, and the site noticed that Dorrell got a ride back to her own car after the accident occurred. The site has also discovered that Dorrell is scheduled to be married in June.
Dorrell did not return a message from the AP seeking a comment. Zack Higbee, one of Petrino's reps, declined to comment on the situation.
