WWE's Worst Match of the Week: Kofi Kingston vs. Cody Rhodes on Monday Night Raw
Lord Tensai debuted on this week’s episode of "Monday Night Raw" and squashed Alex Riley in a short, three-minute match.
Although I hated the match (because I cannot stand squashes), it did reintroduce Tensai to the WWE, and he actually looked much better than his last run with the WWE as A-Train.
So, I guess I didn’t totally hate the match. But Cody Rhodes vs. Kofi Kingston? I loathed it.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
When Kingston came out to face Rhodes, I was hoping for a competitive match that got at least five minutes and showcased two of the best young stars in the WWE. Yet, what we actually got was a two-minute bout that was more of an angle than it was an actual match.
I don’t remember the exact structure of the entire bout, but I do remember the main ingredients: Rhodes hit a Disaster Kick on Kingston, The Big Show came out to distract Rhodes with an “Embarrassing Moment” and then Kingston nailed Rhodes with Trouble in Paradise for the victory.
That’s it?
The WWE started off this Show/Rhodes feud by having Rhodes constantly embarrass Show. But now, they’ve turned the tables and Show is the one who’s embarrassing Rhodes and causing him to lose his matches.
I get that it’s the typical pro wrestling booking of having the baby face one-up the heel, but I’ve gotten so sick of Big Show lately that it bothered the hell out of me when he interrupted what should have been a really good Kingston/Rhodes match.
The creative team seems hellbent on shoving Big Show down our throats, and to be honest, it’s getting really old. It’s time to move on from The Big Show.
Even though Rhodes will probably rebound from this feud rather quickly, I don’t like the idea of having Big Show continue to beat Rhodes or cost him matches. And I definitely don’t like the idea of ruining a perfectly good match for the sake of a superstar who’s nearly 40 years old and has been around for 13 years now.
Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
