Nike NFL Uniforms: Teams in Need of Seahawks Style Makeover

As part of their new partnership with the National Football League, Nike, who is now the official apparel provider of the NFL, unveiled their new uniforms for the 2012 season Tuesday.

The Seattle Seahawks were the only team whose uniforms underwent a major change, and in the spirit of their willingness to embrace the future, here's a look at some other NFL squads whose look could use an update.

Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest continuously operating professional football team in existence, and with the exception of a few tweaks here and there, their uniforms have remained basically unchanged for the past half-century.

The colors are fine, but even with a "more aggressive" logo, the white helmets are rather plain. I don't know that anything as radical as the changes posed by this fake concept sketch are needed, but the Cardinals helmets could certainly use some jazzing up.

Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are a storied franchise—from the team's golden era in the 1960s, when Johnny Unitas barked out signals in Baltimore, to the much more recent decade of success in Indianapolis with Peyton Manning under center.

The Colts are preparing for the dawn of a new era with rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, so now is the perfect time for the team to update a uniform that has hardly changed since this photo of Unitas was taken in 1968.

Miami Dolphins

Since their inception in 1966, the Miami Dolphins' logo and uniforms have remained basically unchanged. While the team does deserve credit for being able to pull off the teal look, the logo could use some freshening up after over 45 years.

Once again, this faked concept sketch takes things a bit too far (way too much orange), but modernizing the dolphin on the helmet wouldn't be a half bad idea.

Cleveland Browns

I'll freely admit that, as a Browns fan, I like Cleveland's uniforms just the way they are. But I'll just as freely admit that many people find the Browns' color combination of brown and orange to be, well, butt ugly.

However, I don't know how much change can really be affected in the uniforms given the present color options, so maybe the team should try to reverse their woeful fortunes by blowing the whole thing up and starting from scratch.

That would give the folks at Nike something to do.
