Max Browne to USC: Is This the Start of a Big Year for the Trojans?

Edwin WeathersbyApr 5, 2012

USC received excellent news last night, as Sammamish Skyline (Wash.) QB Max Brown committed to the Trojans. He's the third commitment for their 2013 class and is a huge get, as Browne is the consensus No. 1 QB in the nation.

However, I'm here to expand the light of the overall significance of Browne's pledge, as I bring up the question: is this the start of a big-time recruiting year for the Men of Troy?

In fact, you can argue that with Matt Barkley back for his senior season, a loaded 2012 Trojan squad and a likely preseason top five ranking, this could be a big year for the entire USC family.

Kenny Bigelow and Chris Hawkins

1 of 7

While Browne will be the Trojans' 2013 class headliner, he is not the first 5-star recruit to commit in this 2013 class. Kenny Bigelow, a 6'3", 285 DL from Elkton, Md., is one of the best players in the country in his own right.

Bigelow is a super quick trench man, with great strength, a high motor, physicality and amazing athleticism. He'll likely be either a DT or DE in Hollywood.

The Trojans also recently received a commitment from 6'0", 170-pound CB Chris Hawkins. From the Los Angeles area, Hawkins is a long cover corner who is not afraid to press bigger receivers and has good athleticism on the defensive perimeter.

Trojans Looking Good for Hutchings?

2 of 7

One of the top players on the West Coast and nationally, Michael Hutchings is an elite OLB/SS prospect who goes 6'1" and weighs in the 210-pound range.

Making Headway with Cravens?

3 of 7

That's huge news, as Su'a Cravens is a  6'1", 205-pound safety/outside linebacker prospect and is a big time, 5-star recruit. Cravens is from Murrieta, not too far from USC and is a huge priority for the Trojans.

Redfield Eyeing Trojans

4 of 7

Max Redfield, the 6'2", 195-pound safety from Mission Viejo, has USC in his top two. The Diablo program is good about sending top prospects to Heritage Hall, as names like Mark Sanchez and Tre Madden ring a bell.

Redfield fits best as a roaming free-safety prospect due to his great athleticism and speed.

Davis Thinking About Going from Trojans to Trojans?

5 of 7

A 6'0", 197-pound back, Davis has good speed, can run inside and out, get to the edges and has good elusiveness in the open field.

He plays for the Lincoln Trojans in Stockton, Calif., where he ran for 2,613 yards and 39 touchdowns last season. Davis would be huge get for USC, as RB depth needs to be addressed.

Nico Falah Likes Local Schools 'A Lot'

6 of 7

At 6'5", 270 pounds, Nico Falah is a solid OT prospect from St. John Bosco, which is just east of the USC campus.

Falah has good athleticism in space, flashes elite pass-protector potential and a frame to tack on more girth in college. The Trojans have offered, and Falah has them on his radar.

Any News on Isaac?

7 of 7

At 6'2", 220 pounds, Isaac is a big back who has great speed, run instincts and can factor as a receiver out of the backfield. With RB depth being a bit low in Troy these days, he's a needed get.

My personal feeling is that he ends up with Michigan, but USC will continue working on him hard until the end.
