USC Football: Max Browne Is Coming to Join the Trojans' 2013 Quarterback Battle
Well, the kid from the suburbs of Seattle has made it official folks, he is heading to sunny Southern California for college. Max Browne, the number one quarterback in the class of 2013, is going to join Lane Kiffin's Trojans. The Laner, for the moment, wins again on the recruiting trail.
Browne has decided to head to SoCal over Norman, Tuscaloosa and his hometown school in Seattle. As it stands right now, the Sooners, Tide and Huskies loss is the Trojans' gain, and when 2013 rolls around Browne will be the new kid on campus.
A recruitment that truly heated up as Browne emerged as the nation's top quarterback has been ended before the circus that is the summer could get started. Browne picked Southern Cal and Lane Kiffin over a myriad of schools, and now the wait comes for fans as we see if the decision sticks.
The interesting thing about Max Browne's decision is he elected to go to the one school where he has a clear disadvantage heading into the 2013 season.
At Alabama, he'd sit behind McCarron for a year, then compete for the starting job heading into 2014. If he had picked Washington, he'd be doing the same, only behind Keith Price. At Oklahoma he would have at least a shot to compete in 2013 as Landry Jones leaves for the NFL after this season. However, at USC he'll be heading into 2013 with both Cody Kessler and Matt Wittek pushing to start for the Trojans.
Both quarterbacks have looked good this spring, but we shall see what the stand-out commit can do when he gets to campus. That is, if he gets to campus. Before we make big predictions, we'll have to wait and see what happens in the days between now and February 2013.
