WWE News: Paul Heyman to Join Brock Lesnar in WWE?

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

Brock Lesnar is back in the WWE, but you probably noticed that his sidekick isn’t with him.

I’m talking, of course, about Paul Heyman, who managed Lesnar way back in 2002 and helped lead him to the WWE Championship.

As soon as it was revealed that Lesnar was returning to the WWE, there was rampant speculation that, given the history between the two, Heyman would be joining him. We haven’t seen Heyman back in the WWE yet, but we’ve also only seen Lesnar once.

So, does that mean that Heyman will show up in WWE eventually? Let’s find out.

From PWInsider.com (via WrestlingInc.com):

"

Word is that there are no plans for Heyman to come in. Heyman was not part of the negotiations and is not a part of the deal, and he simply isn't available as he has other things going on.

According to PWInsider, there are people in WWE who want Heyman to come back as a sort of "talking head" or a TV personality. Heyman is based in the Northeast and could be useful as a public figure for WWE.

WWE has reached out for Heyman to do interviews and things like that, but he has turned them down because he has other priorities. It's possible that we see Heyman return to WWE in the future, but it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

"

Even though it doesn’t appear as if Heyman to WWE is likely in the near future, I have to think that it will remain a possibility as long as Lesnar is with the company.

Heyman is a great wrestling mind who could contribute to the WWE in a variety of ways beyond just being an on-screen character, and it’s likely that the one major holdup to him joining the WWE (beside his other activities) is that he’d want more control than Vince McMahon is willing to give him.

But there’s no doubt that bringing Heyman into the mix along with Lesnar could create some potentially great storylines.

Back in the summer of 2011 when CM Punk cut that awesome worked shoot promo, he referred to himself as “a Paul Heyman guy” and mentioned that Lesnar was also “a Paul Heyman guy.”

See where I’m going with this?

There is big money to be made with some type of Lesnar/Heyman/Punk feud, and even if that doesn't happen, Heyman could definitely help the WWE in other capacities.

Given his rocky history with the WWE, I don’t think that’s likely. But it seems much more so now that Lesnar is there.

Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
