Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Hot Streak Continues

Oliver Crawford IIIJun 6, 2018

Notre Dame has been on a hot streak recruiting as of late, and today they picked up another verbal commitment from Devin Butler, a cornerback out of Washington D.C.

This a commitment at a position of great need due to the abrupt deflection of former signee Tee Shepard due to health concerns.

Butler was heavily recruited and has several big-time offers from programs like Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin among many others. At 6'1" and 185 pounds, Butler has excellent size to become a cover corner at the next level.

The Irish now have two cornerback commits as Butler joins Rashad Kinlaw out of Galloway, New Jersey. The coaching staff has said they want to add at least three corners in the 2013 recruiting cycle, and they are off to a great start.

In the past few weeks head coach Brian Kelly has snagged several offensive linemen—Hunter Bivin, Mike McGovern and Mike McGlinchey, to go along with highly touted quarterback Malik Zaire.

Also, Notre Dame has secured commitments from wide receivers Corey Robinson and James Onwualu to go along with tight end Jacob Matuska.

The hot streak has a great chance of continuing as 4-star defensive end Isaac Rochell has Notre Dame as his leader after having a stellar visit over the weekend. Rochell is in the Rivals Top 100, and is one of the best overall players in the entire country.

At 6'5" and 260 pounds, Rochell will be a load on the defensive line.

All in all, this has been a great few-week stretch for the Irish and the coaching staff, and it seems that prospects are responding positively to the recent coaching changes.

With 10 commits already in the fold, the Irish have an outstanding start to the recruiting season, and according to 247 Sports, they possess the fifth-best class overall with seven 4-star commits.
