SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 148, Jeff Scott, Ole Miss RB
Starting April 2, the SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players for 2012 in the SEC.
No. 148: Jeff Scott, No. 3, Running Back, Ole Miss
Strengths
Speed. Simply put, Scott is a burner.
Because of his speed, Scott has been used as a running back, punt returner, kick returner and a receiver out of the backfield. He rushed for 529 yards and six touchdowns last season and added another 386 yards and one touchdown on special teams.
He had two 100-yard rushing games and two 200-yard all-purpose games. Needless to say, Scott is versatile and will be a big-time asset in new head coach Hugh Freeze's offense.
Weaknesses
Size matters; and for Scott, it's the one thing that's holding him back. The 5'7", 175-pounder has been forced to be the every-down running back at times during his career, but never during a full season.
That could change this season.
2012 Prediction
Scott is poised to have a big season in Freeze's offense. He won't be an every-down running back because he simply doesn't have the size, but Ole Miss will put him in positions to make an impact.
He'll get 15-18 touches per game in a variety of ways and remain a big part of the offense.
